Gamini Fonseka
Kala Keerthi Sembuge Gamini Shelton Fonseka (; 21 March 1936 – 30 September 2004) was a Sri Lankan film actor, film director and politician. Often considered one of the greatest actors in Sinhala cinema, Fonseka dominated the industry in the 1960s and 1970s and won several Best Actor and Popular Actor awards throughout his career. A set of people and critics consider him as the best actor ever in the local industry , while a set of others argue that is Joe Abeywickrama . Dissanayake Mudiyanse Ralahamilage Lionel Gamini Dissanayake, PC (known as Gamini Dissanayake; ,; 20 March 1942 – 24 October 1994) was a prominent Sri Lankan politician, a powerful minister of the United National Party, and Leader of the Opposition. ''Gaja Gamini'' (English: ''Woman with an elephant's walk'') is a 2000 Indian film written and directed by M. F. Husain. The film stars Madhuri Dixit, in the lead role. Gamini Kulawansa Lokuge (, ; 8 May 1943 – 30 June 2025) was a Sri Lankan politician and a Cabinet Minister. Early life Lokuge was born on 8 May 1943 in Piliyandala to middle-class parents. He received his primary education in Piliyandala and completed his higher education at Piliyandala Central College. Political career Lokuge entered politics in 1960 as a member of the United National Party (UNP). Corporal Gamini Kularatne PWV, SLSR (S/34553) (; 4 September 1966 – 14 July 1991) (commonly known as ''Hasalaka Gamini'' or ''Hasalaka Sri Lankan Hero'') was a Sri Lankan soldier. He was the first recipient of the Parama Weera Vibhushanaya, the highest award for gallantry awarded by the Sri Lanka Army for his actions during the Elephant Pass Siege, in which he was killed. Gamini Goonesena (16 February 1931 – 1 August 2011) was a Sri Lankan first-class cricketer who played prior to his country being granted Test status. A gifted allrounder who was a right-handed batsman and a legbreak and googly bowler, he played first class cricket over a 19-year timespan, 1949–1968, representing 14 different teams. Mangamuni Gamini Silva (born 19 December 1960) is a Sri Lankan cricket umpire and former first-class cricketer. Silva was born in Colombo and became a policeman. He played 12 matches of first-class cricket for Police Sports Club in the Saravanamuttu Trophy in 1995/96. Kala Keerthi Dr. Gamini Kalyanadarsha Haththotuwegama (born 29 November 1939 – died 30 October 2009 as ගාමිණී හත්තොටුවේගම) was a Sri Lankan playwright, director, actor, critic and educator. He was widely known as the father of Sri Lanka's modern street theatre. He was among the most influential directors of post-independent Sri Lanka. He entered the University of Peradeniya in 1956 and obtained an Honors Degree in English.
