Gamblers (band)
Gamblers is an American rock band formed in 2014 based in Long Island, New York. The band’s lineup consists of vocalist/guitarist and principal songwriter Michael McManus, lead guitarist James Usher, and drummer Johnny Hoblin. The band is known for rock and electronic music, particularly their application of hip hop-influenced beat construction to songwriting that encompasses elements of indie rock, indie electronic, and pop music. History Formation and Early Years (2014-2017) Gamblers was formed in 2014 by Michael McManus and Gary O’Keefe, who initially collaborated while touring with the Long Island-based band Vision Through Sound (later renamed Yankee Longstraw). Bobby Pickett
Robert George Pickett (February 11, 1938April 25, 2007), better known as Bobby "Boris" Pickett, was an American singer-songwriter and comedian. He is best known for co-writing and performing the 1962 smash hit novelty song "Monster Mash". Born in Somerville, Massachusetts, Pickett watched many horror films as a result of his father's position as a local movie theater manager. He started improvising impressions of Hollywood film stars at a young age. At a turning point in his career, Pickett was a vocalist for a local swing band called Darren Bailes and the Wolf Eaters. He would later serve in the United States Army. He co-wrote his signature song, "Monster Mash", with Leonard Capizzi in May 1962 as a spoof of popular contemporary dance crazes. "Monster Mash" is a 1962 novelty song by Bobby "Boris" Pickett. The song was released as a single on Gary S. Paxton's Garpax Records label in August 1962 along with a full-length LP called '' The Original Monster Mash'', which contained several other monster-themed tunes. The "Monster Mash" single was number one on the ''Billboard'' Hot 100 chart on October 20–27 of that year, just before Halloween. "Monster Mash" has sustained a lasting impact in various recordings, film inclusions, and re-releases since its initial release. Ramones
The Ramones were an American punk rock band formed in the New York City neighborhood Forest Hills, Queens in 1974. Known for helping establish the punk movement in the United States and elsewhere, the Ramones are often recognized as one of the first bands of the genre. Although they had never achieved significant commercial success during their existence, the band is seen today as highly influential in Punk subculture, punk culture. "Pet Sematary" is a single by American punk rock band Ramones, from their 1989 album '' Brain Drain''. The song, originally written for the Stephen King 1989 film adaptation of the same name, became one of the Ramones' biggest radio hits and was a staple of their concerts during the 1990s. The song plays over the film’s credits. Background King, a huge Ramones fan, invited the Ramones to his Bangor, Maine home as they played in New England. During the visit, he handed Dee Dee Ramone a copy of his '' Pet Sematary'' novel, and the bassist retreated to the basement. One hour later, Dee Dee returned with the lyrics to "Pet Sematary". Shortly afterwards, drummer Marky Ramone said that Dee Dee's attitude that day showed that he could achieve his plans to leave the band and attempt a career at hip hop music. The Dillinger Escape Plan
The Dillinger Escape Plan is an American metalcore band. The band was formed in 1997 in Morris Plains, New Jersey by guitarist Ben Weinman, bassist Adam Doll, vocalist Dimitri Minakakis, and drummer Chris Pennie. The band's use of Consonance and dissonance, dissonance, odd time signatures, polyrhythms and unconventional drum patterns became a staple of their sound, although later albums incorporated more melody, and influences from a range of genres. The band's lineup shifted numerous times throughout its existence; by the time the group dissolved, Weinman was the only remaining founding member. Billy Rymer
Billy Rymer (born December 10, 1984) is an American musician, most notable for being the drummer for the mathcore band The Dillinger Escape Plan from 2009 until the band played its final shows in December 2017, and again since December 2023. Career The Dillinger Escape Plan (2009–2017) Prior to joining The Dillinger Escape Plan, Rymer was the drummer for Long Island-based rock band The Rivalry. Gilgo Beach Serial Killings
The Gilgo Beach serial killings were part of a series of murders on Long Island, New York, spanning from 1993 to 2011. Many of the victims' remains were found over a period of months in late 2010 and 2011 during a police search of the area along Ocean Parkway, a road near the remote beach town of Gilgo in southern Suffolk County, New York. In December 2010, the remains of four victims designated as "The Gilgo Four" were found within a quarter of a mile of each other near Gilgo Beach. Six more sets of remains were found in March and April 2011 in Suffolk and Nassau counties. Police believe the latter sets of remains predate the four bodies found in December 2010. The original search was prompted by the disappearance of Shannan Gilbert in early May 2010 in Oak Beach, a gated community on the south shore.
