Galotxa
Galotxa () is a variety of Valencian pilota, pilota that is always played in the street, whether artificial or natural, practiced mostly in the northern counties of the Xúquer river. In the evolution of the various Valencian pilota forms, Galotxa would be immediate precursor of the Escala i corda (a net in the center of the court, starting the game with the ''ferida'', and the ball can bounce only once on the ground), but without the stairs nor ''llotgetes'' (in natural streets galleries neither exist). There are only amateur players, although many professionals ''pilotaris'' (pilota players) of ''Escala i corda'' began in Galotxa, such as Álvaro Navarro Serra, Álvaro. Valencian Pilota
Valencian pilota ( "Valencian ball") is a traditional handball sport played in the Valencian Community. Its origins are not known. Rules variations within the generic ''Pilota Valenciana'' category are frequent from area to area but the common trait is that the ball is struck with a bare, or almost bare, hand (only minimal protection is applied in some versions of the sport). The general rule involves two teams made from two up to five players each (the numbers depend on the particular version played). Exceptionally, individual matches are also played (mostly in Escala i corda and Raspall) between the most renowned players. The second characteristic is that it is not played against a wall. Vaqueta Ball
The vaqueta ball (, , ) is the kind of ball used to play some Valencian pilota variants, including Escala i corda, Galotxa and Raspall. Its name derives from the fact that it is made of bull's skin. It has a black colour that tends to become brown as it is used, and is designed to contrast with the white colour of the trinquets' walls. Traits The ''vaqueta'' ball has a diameter of (giving it a circumference of ), and its weight is around , depending on the variant. In Escala i corda lighter balls are preferred, while in Raspall heavier balls are used. The actual weight of the balls has changed over time. In the 1930s, pilotaris such as Quart played with balls around . The lighter the ball the slower it goes and the less it ''flies'' (its direction). Álvaro Navarro Serra (Faura, 1973), simply known as Álvaro, is one of the main Valencian pilota professional players. He is one of the most reputed ''dauers'' due to his strong left hand and his professionality, and has got to be a member of the Valencian Pilota Squad. Now he is one of the stars of the ValNet company. Álvaro began playing Galotxa variant, but he is mostly known by his Escala i corda career, where he is the absolute ruler, both in Circuit Bancaixa teams and in Trofeu Individual Bancaixa one-on-one matches. On 2001 Álvaro led the Valencian Pilota Squad in the European Championship hold in the Netherlands, where the Valencians won the Valencian frontó, frontó and International game. Xirivella
Xirivella () is a Municipalities of Spain, municipality in the Valencian Community, Spain. It borders the Valencia, Spain, city of Valencia, Alaquàs, Picanya and Mislata. The municipality is divided by the Autovía V-30, V-30 motorway and the Turia (river), river Turia, with the La Luz district on the eastern part of the river. Since June 2012, a bridge across the motorway has connected both parts. Local issues include noise pollution, caused by the nearby Valencia Airport. Torrent (; ) is a city located within the metropolitan area of the city of Valencia, Spain. It is the largest municipality of the Horta Oest ''comarca'', with 83,962 inhabitants (2020). Calpe (; ) is a coastal municipality located in the ''comarca'' of Marina Alta, in the province of Alicante, Valencian Community, Spain, by the Mediterranean Sea. Foios () is a municipality in the ''comarca'' of Horta Nord in the Valencian Community, Spain. It has a population of 7,342 ( INE 2019). Name According to Gaspar Juan Escolano, the name ''Foios'' comes from Latin ''Fundus'' which means "Inheritance" or "Farm".
