Galion High School is a public high school located in Galion, Ohio, United States. It serves students ranging from grades 9 through 12. The school colors are blue and orange and its athletic teams are known as the Tigers. The current high school building opened in 2007 following the demolition of the previous home of Galion High School on North Union Street. Facilities This building is located on Portland Way North on a campus with the district's other schools. It opened in 2007 along with a new middle school to replace the aging building that was on North Union Street. History The first Galion Union High School was built in 1868 on West Walnut Street and served as Galion High School until 1917. This building was demolished in 1924 and a new junior high school was built on the site in 1925, which was razed in April 2008. Galion ( ) is a city in Crawford County, Ohio, Crawford, Morrow County, Ohio, Morrow, and Richland County, Ohio, Richland counties in the U.S. state of Ohio. The population was 10,453 at the 2020 United States census, 2020 census. Galion is the second-largest city in Crawford County after Bucyrus, Ohio, Bucyrus. The Northern Ohio League (NOL) was an OHSAA athletic league in north central Ohio that began competition in 1944 and disbanded in 2017 after six of its seven members joined the Sandusky Bay Conference. The British Basketball League (BBL) was a men's professional basketball sports league, league in Great Britain. Since its establishment in 1987 the BBL represented the highest level of basketball competition within the United Kingdom. Nate James Reinking (born 12 December 1973) is a British-American professional basketball coach and former player who serves as an assistant coach for the Cleveland Cavaliers of the National Basketball Association (NBA). Professional career Having graduated from Kent State University, Reinking came to England and signed with the British Basketball League club Leicester Riders in 1996. The North Central Conference was an OHSAA athletic league whose final remaining members were located in northwest and north-central Ohio. The league's last day of operation was June 30, 2014.
