Galient
is a 1984 Japanese fantasy and science fiction anime television series produced by Sunrise. It was directed by Ryōsuke Takahashi and written by Sōji Yoshikawa with mechanical design by Kunio Okawara and Yutaka Izubuchi. It aired on Nippon Television in Japan from October 5, 1984, to March 29, 1985, lasted up to 25 episodes. It is the third installment of the Takahashi Mecha Trilogy, following both ''Armored Trooper Votoms'' and ''Fang of the Sun Dougram'', respectively. Plot Set in the medieval-looking fantasy world of Arst, Prince Jordy Volder takes up the fight against the conqueror Marder. Jordy uses the legendary giant robot "panzer" Galient, which is one of many panzers preserved underground for millennia. Using an army of advanced robot panzers, Marder is conquering Arst in preparation to dominate the Crescent Galaxy. Sunrise (company)
is a Japanese entertainment company owned by Bandai Namco Holdings with its business focused on production, planning, and management of anime. It was founded in September 1972 by former Mushi Production staff as the animation studio branch of . In 1977, it gained independence from Shoeisha and Tohokushinsha and rebranded itself to In 1987, the studio rebranded to a name which would remain in use for over 35 years. Yutaka Izubuchi
is a Japanese anime mecha and character designer, anime director, illustrator and manga artist. He was born in Tokyo, Japan and grew up in Yokohama. Izubuchi is also known for his manga and illustrations, but most of his fame comes from his design work. He mainly designs robots and other mecha in anime works, while he designs characters and creatures in Tokusatsu productions. He is also interested in dress design, especially German military uniforms, and by extension European armor. This influence is also evident in the design of mecha and the costumes of the characters. Seiji Yokoyama
was a Japanese incidental music composer from Hiroshima. He graduated from the Kunitachi College of Music in 1957. Yokoyama is best known for his work on the anime series ''Saint Seiya'' and ''Space Pirate Captain Harlock'', and for his symphonic sound for many television programs. In 1992, he won the JASRAC award for his work on ''Saint Seiya''. On July 8, 2017, Yokoyama died from pneumonia at age 82. is a Japanese anime director, scriptwriter, animator, character designer, as well as a stage director and novelist. He has occasionally worked under the aliases , , and . Kunio Okawara
is a mecha designer in the Japanese anime industry. He was born and currently lives in Inagi, Tokyo, where he works out of a studio in his home. He was one of the pioneering mecha designers in Japan and established the profession of 'mecha design' in the anime industry. His representative works include ''Gundam series'' from the Real Robot shows, the ''Brave series'' from the Super Robot shows and '' Time Bokan series'' from the comedy anime.
