Galaxy Communications
Galaxy Media (formerly Galaxy Communications) is a radio broadcasting company with radio stations entirely in the Central New York area. History Ed Levine, current president, attended the Newhouse School at Syracuse University where his love for radio began. After serving as program director for the college radio station, Levine and two classmates started Syracuse’s first live FM radio station in 1978. In 1989, the first Galaxy station, WKLL was launched by the current CEO, Ed Levine, and his business partner, Bob Raide. WKLL was named for Ed and wife Pam’s then-19-month-old daughter Lauren. In the 1990s, Galaxy launched additional stations in Syracuse and Utica. In 2001, the headquarters was moved from Bridgeport to a new building in Armory Square, located in downtown Syracuse. Jim Boeheim
James Arthur Boeheim Jr. ( ; born November 17, 1944) is an American college basketball coach who is the head coach of the Syracuse Orange men's team of the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC). Boeheim has guided the Orange to ten Big East Conference regular season championships, five Big East tournament championships, and 34 NCAA tournament appearances, including five Final Four appearances and three appearances in the national title game. In those games, the Orangemen lost to Indiana in 1987 on a last-second jump shot by Keith Smart, and to Kentucky in 1996, before defeating Kansas in 2003 with All-American Carmelo Anthony. Classic Hits
Classic hits is a radio format which generally includes songs from the top 40 music charts from the late 1960s to the early 2000s, with music from the 1980s serving as the core of the format. Music that was popularized by MTV in the early 1980s and the nostalgia behind it is a major driver to the format. It is considered the successor to the oldies format, a collection of top 40 songs from the late 1950s through the late 1970s that was once extremely popular in the United States and Canada. The term is sometimes incorrectly used as a synonym for the adult hits format, which uses a slightly newer music library stretching from all decades to the present with a major focus on 1990s and 2000s pop, rock and alternative songs. WZUN-FM (102.1 MHz "Sunny 102") is a commercial FM radio station licensed to Phoenix, New York, and serving the Syracuse metropolitan area. The station is owned by Edward Levine's Galaxy Communications through licensee Galaxy Syracuse Licensee LLC. It airs a classic hits radio format. The studios and offices are on Walton Street in Syracuse. The transmitter is off Van Buren Road in Van Buren. ESPN Radio, which is alternately platform-agnostically branded as ESPN Audio, is an American sports radio network and extension of the ESPN television network. It was launched on January 1, 1992, under the original banner of "SportsRadio ESPN". The network is based out of the ESPN campus in Bristol, Connecticut, with multiple studio facilities nationwide, along with home studios. The network airs a regular schedule of daily and weekly programming as well as live radio play-by-play of sporting events. ESPN Radio is broadcast to hundreds of affiliate stations, along with national and Canadian carriage on Sirius XM. WSGO
WSGO (1440 AM) is a commercial radio station, licensed to Oswego, New York, and serving the northern suburbs of the Syracuse metropolitan area. The station is owned by Galaxy Communications and airs a sports radio format. The station, like most of Galaxy Communications' Oswego cluster, is a direct repeater of a Syracuse sister station, in WSGO's case, AM 1200 WTLA. Like WTLA, it simulcasts its programming full-time on a 220 watt FM translator, W261AC, at 100.1 MHz). WSGO operates at 1,000 watts by day. But at night, when radio waves travel farther, it reduces power to only 45 watts to avoid interfering with other stations on AM 1440. WTLA (1200 AM; "ESPN Radio 97.7") is a commercial radio station licensed to North Syracuse, New York, and serving the Syracuse metropolitan area. The station is owned by Galaxy Communications and airs a sports radio format. Programming is also simulcast on co-owned AM 1440 WSGO in Oswego, New York. WTLA operates with 1,000 watts. Because 1200 AM is a clear channel frequency reserved for Class A WOAI San Antonio, WTLA uses a directional antenna at night to avoid interference when radio waves travel farther. WZUN (1070 AM) is a radio station airing a classic hits format, twin-licensed to both Sandy Creek and Pulaski, New York, and effectively serving the Syracuse market to the south. The station is owned by Galaxy Communications, and is part of a simulcast with 102.1 WZUN-FM. By day, WZUN is powered at 2,500 watts non-directional. It is a daytime-only station, but uses an FM translator station broadcasting around the clock. W291BU at 106.1 MHz is licensed to Fulton, though this translator mainly covers Oswego. History The station signed on August 8, 1974 as WSCP, a country music radio station owned by Oswego Jefferson Broadcasting. Wheat Hill Broadcasting bought the station in 1986. WKRH
Redhill Aerodrome is an operational general aviation aerodrome located south-east of Redhill, Surrey, England, in green belt land. Redhill Aerodrome has a CAA Ordinary Licence (Number P421) that allows flights for the public transport of passengers or for flying instruction as authorised by the licensee (Redhill Aerodrome Limited). It is serviced by a brasserie and coffee house called The Pilot's Hub which is situated within Hangar 9 at the aerodrome. The Pilot's Hub is open 7 days a week and is open to the public. The FM stations, broadcasting at 94.9 MHz, 100.9 MHz, and 106.5 MHz respectively, are all branded as " K-Rock" and run an active rock format.
