Galala Mountain
Galala Mountain or Galalah Mountain () is a mountain located in Suez Governorate, Egypt, with an elevation of 3,300 ft above sea level. It contains many species of plants and once had sources of water that have since dried up. Galala Mountain was called the Gallayat Plateaus until it was renamed in the 1920s. Galala Mountain is famous for Galala marble, which is quarried for export and has a colour that varies from creamy to creamy white. A study was conducted in 1989 to explore the feasibility of using water from the Red Sea for Galala, with promising results. A large construction project in Galala, supported by President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi and investors alike, was underway as of 2018 to build a city to support tourism in the area. Al Galala City (, , "sublimity city") is a planned city in northeast Egypt. It lies on Northern Galala Plateau on the western side of the Gulf of Suez. The city represents one of several ambitious urban development projects of the government. The city will include luxury and medium and middle income housing, touristic resorts, hotels, a water park, and a phosphate fertilizers factory. In September 2020, Galala University accepted its first students, being one of the first universities in Egypt to follow the ''Ahleya'' model. The Monastery of Saint Anthony is a Coptic Orthodox monastery standing in an oasis in the Eastern Desert of Egypt, in the northern part of the Red Sea Governorate close to the border with the Suez Governorate. Hidden deep in the Red Sea Mountains, it is located southeast of Cairo and can be reached from Cairo in just 5 to 6 hours. The Monastery of Saint Anthony was established by the followers of Anthony the Great, an early Christian monk.
