Gabriel Cotabiță
Gabriel Cotabiță (1 November 1955 – 23 November 2024) was a Romanian pop and rock singer. Life and career Cotabiță was born on 1 November 1955. He graduated from the Craiova's Institute of Electrotechnics, becoming an engineer. Cotabiță debuted in rock music in 1975 with the group Redivivus. In the 1980s, he was a member of the well-known rock group Holograf. In 2002 he joined a group of rock then musicians and together they formed the band VH2, of which Gabriel was a vocalist. He was also a host of a Callatis Festival Callatis Festival is the largest music and culture festival held in Romania. Location The festival is held on a barge that is docked at Mangalia Marina. Craiova
Craiova (, also , ) is the largest city in southwestern Romania, List of Romanian cities, the seventh largest city in the country and the capital of Dolj County, situated near the east bank of the river Jiu River, Jiu in central Oltenia. It is a longstanding political center, and is located at approximately equal distances from the Southern Carpathians (north) and the Danube, River Danube (south). Craiova is the chief commercial city west of Bucharest and the most important city of Oltenia. Loredana Groza
Loredana Groza (born 10 June 1970), also known mononymously as Loredana, is a Romanians, Romanian singer. She is known for continuously reinventing herself and for approaching numerous music styles throughout her discography, ranging from Pop music, pop to Music of Romania, traditional music and manele. In 1987, Groza released her debut Single (music), single "Bună seara, iubito" ("Good Evening, Love!"), which—even though it was banned and censored in Romania for alleged inappropriate lyrics—became successful and one of her List of signature songs, signature songs. Her album of the same name would go on to sell 1.5 million copies, making it the best-selling record of all time in Romania. Over the years, Groza released several acclaimed albums and hit songs, including "Apa" in 2012, which reached number two on the native Romanian record charts, Airplay 100 chart. Callatis Festival
Callatis Festival is the largest music and culture festival held in Romania. Location The festival is held on a barge that is docked at Mangalia Marina. The barge consists of a huge stage and a very large backstage area, enough to hold over 200 people. The spectators sit on stairs across the harbor, about away from the stage. History The Callatis Festival began in 1999 and has expanded ever since. Dates The Callatis Festival is held every summer between 8 and 15 August. The main part of the festival (the concerts on the stage) takes begins at 21:00 and ends after midnight. This part of the festival is aired live on TVR 2 and TVR International. VH2 (Romanian Band)
VH2 was a sister channel to VH1 in the United Kingdom. It launched in 2003, and slowly became an Indie rock channel, aimed primarily at men in the 25-34 demographic. It mainly showed music videos, though it also aired documentaries about artists. During its launch, the screen identity was created by Paul Wilkinson of Nuw Creative. VH2 also had many chart shows, including the "Indie 500" weekend, which counted down the Top 500 Indie Songs with songs by artists such as The Stone Roses, Pixies, Oasis, Dinosaur Jr, The Cure, The Strokes, Blur and Radiohead.
