Gabriel "Gabri" Martínez Aguilera (born 22 January 2003) is a Spanish footballer who plays as a forward for Portuguese club SC Braga. Club career Born in Sant Fost de Campsentelles, Barcelona, Catalonia, Martínez joined FC Barcelona's La Masia in 2012, from CF Martorelles. After leaving ''Barça'' in 2016, he played for two years for CF Damm before finishing his formation with Girona FC. Martínez made his senior debut with the reserves on 10 January 2021, playing the last 19 minutes of a 0–0 Tercera División home draw against Cerdanyola del Vallès FC. He made his first team debut on 22 August, coming on as a second-half substitute for fellow youth graduate Gerard Gumbau in a 0–0 home draw against UD Las Palmas in the Segunda División championship. In association football, a substitute is a player who is brought on to the pitch during a match in exchange for an existing player. Substitutions are generally made to replace a player who has become tired or injured, or who is performing poorly, or for tactical reasons (such as bringing a striker on in place of a defender). A player who has been substituted during a match takes no further part in the game, in games played under the standard International Football Association Board Laws of the Game. Substitutions were officially added to the Laws of the Game in 1958. Prior to this most games were played with no changes permitted at all, with occasional exceptions in cases of extreme injury or players not arriving to matches on time. 2021–22 Girona FC Season
The 2021–22 season was the 92nd season in the existence of Girona FC and the club's third consecutive season in the second division of Spanish football. In addition to the domestic league, Girona participated in this season's edition of the Copa del Rey. Girona finished in 6th place to earn a play-off spot. The 2021–22 Tercera División RFEF season was the first for the national fifth level in the Spanish football league system. The league has 18 groups like the former fourth tier Tercera División. Competition format *The group champions were promoted to 2022–23 Segunda División RFEF. *The next four eligible teams in each group played in the promotion play-offs. *The champion of each group qualified for 2022–23 Copa del Rey. Tercera Federación, previously known as Tercera RFEF, is the fifth tier of the Spanish football league system. It is below the ''La Liga'', ''Segunda División'', and its fellow semi-professional divisions '' Primera Federación'' and ''Segunda Federación''. It was founded in 1929 as the third tier, and dropped down to the fourth and fifth tiers in 1977 and 2021, respectively. 2020–21 Tercera División
The 2020–21 Tercera División was the last for this league as the fourth tier of Spanish football. It began in October 2020 and ended in June 2021 with the second phase and promotion play-off final in the Canarian group. Because the Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) suspended the previous season on 11 March 2020 at the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic in Spain, the RFEF announced on 6 May the termination of that season, the revocation of all relegations from the Segunda B and Tercera divisions, and the expansion of both leagues. Each regional federation was allowed to plan its own group for the 2020–21 season and as this season became somewhat shorter than usual, the RFEF recommended the subdivision of each region into two groups in the first phase for ease of scheduling, with a final phase in which the teams regrouped based on initial positions.
