Gabe Ruth
Indian Summer is an electronic music project of Australian record producer, DJ, songwriter, and radio personality Gabe Gleeson. He also produces music under the name Gabe Ruth. Early life and education Gabe Gleeson is the grandson of Italian Australians, Italian/Australian filmmaker Giorgio Mangiamele. He performed in bands throughout high school and studied design at university before leaving to focus on the project. Career Indian Summer was previously a duo with Chevy Long. In 2012 Indian Summer signed to Australian electronic label Sweat It Out (record label), Sweat It Out! Music! Music by its late founder DJ Ajax, they embarked on their first Australian tour and were listed among FBi Radio's most played artists the following year. South By Southwest
South by Southwest (SXSW) is an annual conglomeration of parallel film, interactive media, and music festivals and Convention (meeting), conferences organized jointly that take place in mid-March in Austin, Texas. It began in 1987 and has continued growing in both scope and size every year. In 2017, the conference lasted for 10 days with the interactive track lasting for five days, music for seven days, and film for nine days. There was no in-person event in 2020 and 2021 as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic in Austin, Texas, COVID-19 pandemic in Austin; in both years there was a smaller online event instead. FBi Radio
FBi (call sign: 2FBI) station is an independent, not-for-profit community radio in Sydney, Australia. FBi places a heavy emphasis on local emerging music: it has a policy that at least 50 per cent of its music content is to be Australian, of which at least half comes from Sydney musicians. History FBi began 'test broadcasting' as an 'aspirant broadcaster' in 1995 following the then-Keating government's decision to allocate the last three FM licences in Sydney. The election of John Howard delayed the process as the Coalition government focussed on radio licences for country towns. After making a series of short-term broadcasts over eight years, FBi Radio beat 16 other aspirant broadcasters to be granted a permanent licence by the Australian Broadcasting Authority in 2002. Adrian Thomas (5 August 1971 – 28 February 2013), better known as DJ Ajax, was an Australian Electronic Dance Music DJ known for playing a wide range of styles, including electro, techno and electroclash. Career Thomas was a radio show host for Sunsets (Bang Gang Show) on FBI Radio 94.5 and a founding member of Australian collective Bang Gang. He toured France, USA and the UK in 2006 for Modular UK and released a remix/mix CD package Spin City through Tinted Records. Giorgio Mangiamele
Giorgio Mangiamele (13 August 192613 May 2001) was an Italian/Australian photographer and filmmaker who made a unique contribution to the production of Australian art cinema in the 1950s and 1960s. His films included ''Il Contratto'' (or ''The Contract'') (1953), ''The Spag'' (1962), ''Ninety Nine Per Cent'' (1963) and ''Clay'' (1965). ''Clay'' was selected for competition at the Cannes Film Festival in 1965. In 2011 the National Film and Sound Archive of Australia restored four of his most notable films and Ronin Films released them on DVD.
