Gaanam
''Gaanam'' () is a 1982 Indian Malayalam-language drama film written, directed and produced by Sreekumaran Thampi. The film stars Ambareesh and Lakshmi, with Jagathy Sreekumar, Adoor Bhasi, Nedumudi Venu and Hari in supporting roles. The film features original songs composed by V. Dakshinamoorthy. The film won the Kerala State Film Award for Best Film with Popular Appeal and Aesthetic Value. Plot Palghat Rukmini and Aravindakshan Bhagavathar are two gifted musicians, who are drawn to each other and they see only music as the common interest, which made them fall in love with each other. They never realized the fact that they belong two different castes, Rukmini from an orthodox Namboodhri Tharavadu and Aravindakshan from a low-caste Puliya household. Sreekumaran Thampi
Sreekumaran Thampi (born 16 March 1940) is an Indian lyricist, music director, film director, director, film producer, producer and screenwriter in Malayalam cinema. He also writes poetry and is a recipient of the Vallathol Award. In 2017, he was awarded the J. C. Daniel Award, Kerala government's highest honour for contributions to Malayalam cinema. Film career Thampi was introduced to the Malayalam film industry in 1966 by P. Subramaniam as a lyricist in the film ''Kaattumallika''. Bhagyalakshmi
Bhagyalakshmi (born 1 November 1961) is an Indian actress, activist, and dubbing artist. She works predominantly in the Malayalam film industry. She has collaborated with several actresses from Malayalam industries as well as other south Indian languages including Shobana, Revathi, Urvashi, Soundarya, Tabu and Jyothika. Bhagyalakshmi's autobiography, ''Swarabhedangal,'' was awarded the Kerala Sahitya Akademi Award for Biography and Autobiography. ''Ranganayaki'' () is a 1981 Indian Kannada language film directed by Puttanna Kanagal starring Aarathi, Ambareesh, Ramakrishna, Ashok, Rajanand. The film is based on the novel of the same name by Ashwattha. Plot Ranganayaki is a theater artiste who plays the lead female role in all the plays staged by the drama company owned by her foster-father. When a rich man, Nagaraja, falls in love with her, she marries him and draws the curtain on her career. The drama company falls on tough times after her departure. Malavalli Huchchegowda Amarnath (29 May 1952 – 24 November 2018), known by his screen name Ambareesh, was an Indian actor, media personality, politician from the state of Karnataka. The Best Film with Popular Appeal and Aesthetic Value is an award, begun in 1976, presented annually at the Kerala State Film Awards of India to the best film with popular appeal and aesthetic value in Malayalam film industry.
