GT4 European Series
The GT4 European Series is a sports car championship created and organised by SRO Motorsports Group. It is a pro/am championship which utilizes SRO GT4 class cars, and runs alongside the GT World Challenge Europe as a support series. History Following the successful introduction of the FIA GT3 European Championship in 2006, the formula was expanded to include usage by other nationally based professional championships such as the British GT Championship, Belcar, Australian GT Championship and German ADAC GT Masters. While the FIA GT3 European Championship continues, the SRO felt that a true amateur championship was needed in order to complement GT3 which allowed a certain level of professional driver to compete. Many national series also adopted the GT4 regulations as a lower class, and the European Cup eventually lacked the competitors needed to continue. A grand tourer (GT) is a type of car that is designed for high speed and long-distance driving with performance and luxury. The most common format is a Front-engine, rear-wheel-drive layout, front-engine, rear-wheel-drive two-door coupé with either a two-seat or a 2+2 (car body style), 2+2 arrangement. Grand tourers are often the coupé derivative of Luxury vehicle, luxury saloon (car), saloons or sedans. Some models, such as the Ferrari 250 GT, Jaguar E-Type, and Aston Martin DB5, are considered classic examples of ''gran turismo'' cars. 2014 GT4 European Series
The 2014 GT4 European Series season was the seventh season of the GT4 European Cup and the first with the new series denomination, the GT4 European Series. The season began on 10 May at Misano, and finished on 26 October at Monza after six race weekends. In the main GT4 professional class, the championship title was won by two-time defending champion Ricardo van der Ende and team-mate Bernhard van Oranje for Racing Team Holland by Ekris Motorsport. Van der Ende and van Oranje won five races during the season, and ultimately won the title during the first race at Monza. The runner-up position, 22 points in arrears of van der Ende and van Oranje, was taken by 2013 amateur champion Jörg Viebahn. Viebahn won three races during the season; he won with Bertus Sanders at Misano and Paul Ricard, and partnered Simon Knap to victory at Monza. Ricardo Van Der Ende
Ricardo van der Ende (born 13 July 1979 in Poeldijk) is a Dutch racing driver. He won the 2001 Formula Chrysler Euroseries season with the Belgian team of Vortex Motorsport. He also won the Winter Series of the British Formula Ford Championship in 1998 and the Formula Ford Festival in 1999. Later on he went karting and became Dutch champion of the Dutch Rotax Max Challenge in 2003. In 2004 he became European and French karting champion of ICC 125cc. He switched to single-seat race cars in 2004. In 2005 he began touring car racing, and drove the Dutch BMW 130i Cup in 2006. He placed second that year. In 2007 van der Ende was crowned champion. In 2009 he competed in the Dutch GT4 Championship with a BMW M3 GT4, where he came in 2nd in the final ranking. 2009 was less successful for van der Ende, and he finished 6th in the Dutch GT4 Championship. Paul Ronald Johan Meijer (born 27 March 1985) is a Dutch racing driver. He is a former Benelux Formula Renault champion. He currently competes in the Porsche Carrera Cup Benelux for Hans Weijs Motorsport. Early life Meijer was born 27 March 1985 in Utrecht. Career Meijer began his career in karting at the age of 10. He participated in national and international competitions. In 2001 Meijer participated in a Challenge organized by Avaya Communications, with 7 candidates. The 2010 GT4 European Cup season was the fourth season of the GT4 European Cup. It began on May 1 at Silverstone, before finishing on October 17 at Magny-Cours after twelve races held at six meetings. Rhesus Racing driver and single-seater convert Paul Meijer finished the season as the main GT4 champion – as well as securing the GT4 teams title, with team-mates Giuseppe De Pasquale and Raffaele Sangiulio – having finished each of the twelve races to be held on the podium.
