GKK Etzenricht
GKK Etzenricht, an abbreviation of Gleichstromkurzkupplung Etzenricht, meaning Etzenricht HVDC-back-to-back station, was an HVDC back-to-back facility near Etzenricht in the Neustadt an der Waldnaab (district), district of Neustadt an der Waldnaab in Bavaria, Germany. It was built on the site of the Etzenricht substation, a 380 kV/220 kV/110 kV-substation, which went into service in 1970 and expanded afterwards several times. The facility was used between 1993 and 1995 for the exchange of power between Germany and the Czech Republic, operated by Bayernwerk AG (now part of TenneT). History Construction started April 26, 1991 and was completed September 1991. First power was achieved in May 1992 and a powerline to Hradec, Czech Republic was completed September 3, 1992. Furth im Wald (in Czech ''Brod nad Lesy'', resp. ''Bavorský Brod'') is a town in Bavaria, Germany, near the Czech Republic, Czech border in the Bavarian Forest, northeast of Cham, Germany, Cham, and southwest of Domažlice. The city is known as ''Drachenstadt'' (Dragon City), a reference to Furth im Wald's annual ''Drachenstich'' (Slaying of the Dragon) play. Přeštice
Přeštice (; ) is a town in Plzeň-South District in the Plzeň Region of the Czech Republic. It has about 6,800 inhabitants.
