GEOS (8-bit Operating System)
GEOS (''Graphic Environment Operating System'') is a discontinued operating system from Berkeley Softworks (later GeoWorks). Originally designed for the Commodore 64 with its version being released in 1986, enhanced versions of GEOS later became available in 1987 for the Commodore 128 and in 1988 for the Apple II. A lesser-known version was also released for the Commodore Plus/4. GEOS closely resembles early versions of the classic Mac OS and includes a graphical word processor (geoWrite) and Computer graphics, paint program (geoPaint). A December 1987 survey by the Commodore-dedicated magazine '' Compute!'s Gazette'' found that nearly half of respondents used GEOS. For many years, Commodore bundled GEOS with its redesigned and cost-reduced C64, the C64C. GEOS (16-bit Operating System)
GEOS (later renamed GeoWorks Ensemble, NewDeal Office, and Breadbox Ensemble) is a computer operating environment, graphical user interface (GUI), and suite of application software. Originally released as PC/GEOS, it runs on MS-DOS-based, IBM PC compatible computers. Versions for some handheld platforms were also released and licensed to some companies. PC/GEOS was first created by Berkeley Softworks, which later became GeoWorks Corporation. Version 4.0 was developed in 2001 by Breadbox Computer Company, limited liability company (LLC), and was renamed Breadbox Ensemble. In 2015, Frank Fischer, the CEO of Breadbox, died and efforts on the operating system stopped until later in 2017 when it was bought by blueway.Softworks. GEOS Circle
In geometry, the GEOS circle is derived from the intersection of four lines that are associated with a generalized triangle: the Euler line, the Soddy line, the orthic axis and the Gergonne line. Note that the Euler line is orthogonal to the orthic axis and that the Soddy line is orthogonal to the Gergonne line. These four lines provide six points of intersection of which two points occur at line intersections that are orthogonal. Consequently, the other four points form an orthocentric system. The GEOS circle is that circle centered at a point equidistant from ''X''650 (the intersection of the orthic axis with the Gergonne line) and ''X''20 (the intersection of the Euler line with the Soddy line and is known as the de Longchamps point) and passes through these points as well as the two points of orthogonal intersection. GEOS (satellite)
The European Space Research Organisation (ESRO) was an international organisation founded by 10 European nations with the intention of jointly pursuing scientific research in space. It was founded in 1964. As an organisation ESRO was based on a previously existing international scientific institution, CERN. The ESRO convention, the organisations founding document outlines it as an entity exclusively devoted to scientific pursuits. This was the case for most of its lifetime but in the final years before the formation of ESA, the European Space Agency, ESRO began a programme in the field of telecommunications.
