BMW 5 Series (G30)
The seventh generation of the BMW 5 Series consists of the BMW G30 (sedan version) and BMW G31 (wagon version, marketed as 'Touring') executive cars. The G30/G31 has been produced since 2016 by the Germany, German automaker BMW and is often collectively referred to as the G30. It was officially announced on 12 October 2016 and sales began in February 2017. The fastback BMW 5 Series Gran Turismo, 5 Series Gran Turismo model from the previous generation is no longer part of the 5 Series model range, and has been moved to the 6 Series Gran Turismo nameplate. A long-wheelbase sedan version (model code G38) is sold in China. On 27 May 2020, a facelifted 5 Series was unveiled. In 2023, the G30 5 Series was phased out in favour of the BMW G60, G60 5 Series. Brazilian Landing Ship Rio De Janeiro (G31)
USS ''Alamo'' (LSD-33) was a of the United States Navy. She was named for the Alamo, site of the 1836 Battle of the Alamo. ''Alamo'' was laid down on 11 October 1954 at Pascagoula, Mississippi, by the Ingalls Shipbuilding Corp.; launched on 20 January 1956; sponsored by Mrs. Daniel V. Gallery, the wife of Rear Admiral Daniel V. Gallery: and commissioned on 24 August 1956. 1956–1960 After commissioning, the ship briefly visited Galveston, Tex. then headed for NS Norfolk, Va., to complete her outfitting and initial loading. On 13 October, the dock landing ship sailed for the West Coast. After transiting the Panama Canal, she reached NS San Diego, Calif., her home port, and joined the Amphibious Forces, Pacific Fleet. The ship held amphibious exercises and acceptance trials off San Diego in February 1957. Further training exercises occupied her until 29 May, when she got underway for the Marshall Islands. Junkers G 31
The Junkers G 31 was an advanced tri-motor airliner designed and produced by the German aircraft manufacturer Junkers. It would be the first airliner operated by Deutsche Luft Hansa to feature a flight attendant. Development of the G 31 took place during the mid 1920s, having been encouraged by the positive reception of the Junkers G 24, a more compact tri-motor airliner. It was decided to incorporate all-metal construction and an aerodynamically 'clean' configuration, features that were not yet in widespread use at that time. Ambitions to adopt retractable landing gear for the G 31 were abandoned in favour of a fixed arrangement as the additional weight incurred a performance penalty that did not justify the improved aerodynamics while retracted.
