G. Gordon Atcheson
G. Gordon Atcheson (born May 17, 1954) is a Judge of the Kansas Court of Appeals. Education and legal career Atcheson received his Bachelor of Arts in political science from the University of Michigan in 1976 and his Juris Doctor from the University of Kansas School of Law in 1981. After graduation from law school he began his legal career in the Sedgwick County District Attorney's office in 1981. He joined the law firm of Hall, Turner & Pike in Wichita after leaving the district attorney's office in 1983. He remained with that firm until 1987 when he joined the firm of Shamberg, Johnson & Bergman. In 1989, he left Shamberg, Johnson & Bergman, and began a private practice with the firm of Blake & Uhlig, where he remained until February 2005, when he founded the firm of The Atcheson Law Office, Westwood, KS, where he was the sole practitioner and practiced until his appointment to the court. The Kansas Court of Appeals is the intermediate-level appellate court for the U.S. state of Kansas. History The Kansas Legislature created the first Kansas Court of Appeals in 1895, to help the Kansas Supreme Court with an increasingly heavy caseload. The original statute that created the court contained a sunset provision that allowed the court to expire in 1901. The Court of Appeals was reestablished permanently in 1977 as a seven-member appellate court—expanded to ten judges in 1987, then later to twelve and then to fourteen. Jurisdiction The Court of Appeals hears all appeals from orders of the State Corporation Commission, original actions in habeas corpus, and all appeals from the state district courts in both civil and criminal cases (except those that may be appealed directly to the Kansas Supreme Court). 2020 Kansas Elections
Kansas state elections in 2020 were held on Tuesday, November 3, 2020. The deadline to register to vote was October 13th, 2020. Early voting began October 14th, 2020. Mark Parkinson
Mark Vincent Parkinson (born June 24, 1957) is an American businessman and former politician serving as head of the American Health Care Association (AHCA) and National Center for Assisted Living (NCAL). He served as the 47th lieutenant governor of Kansas from 2007 to 2009 and the 45th governor of Kansas from 2009 until 2011. He was also a state legislator.
