G.M. Lianozov Sons
The G.M. Lianozov Sons was a Russian oil business founded by a family of oil industrialists of Armenian descent that operated in Baku. The G.M. Lianozov Oil firm eventually became one of the largest oil firms in all of Russia. The family also contributed to caviar fisheries in the Caspian sea. The family started its business investments through Martin Lianozov, who invested heavily in the fisheries of the Caspian Sea and in 1873 signed a contract with the government of Persia through which he acquired the rights to the entire fishing industry of the southern Caspian Sea. The company, which exported caviar and fish, eventually was reported to have received a net profit of half a million rubles by 1913. The success of the company sparked new investments into other major business opportunities such as the newly founded oil in Baku. In 1907 Stepan Lianozov (1871 - 1951) founded "G.M. Stepan Georgievich Lianozov ( hy, Ստեփան Գևորգի Լիանոսյան; 9 August 1872 - 10 August 1951) was a Russian industrialist of Armenian descent who contributed to petroleum industry in Azerbaijan. Lianozov founded "G.M. Lianozov Sons" in Moscow with 2 million rubles as founding capital. Stepan Lianozov's impact on the oil industry in Baku was considerable and became known as the "Russian Rockefeller". Having served in over twenty companies prior to the Russian Revolution, he attracted and managed numerous investments in the Baku oil industry, which started a revolution in world oil production and brought his company ''OIL'' as the top petroleum company in Baku and third largest oil producer in the world.cf. Alexander Mantashev (, Aleksandr Mantashiants; , Aleksandr Ivanovich Mantashev; 3 March 1842 – 19 April 1911) was a prominent Russian oil magnate, industrialist, financier, and a philanthropist of the Armenian origin. By the end of his life he had become one of the world's wealthiest individuals. Early life Born in Tiflis, Tiflis Governorate, Russian Empire, Mantashev spent most of his childhood in Tabriz, in northern Iran, where his father was involved in the cotton and textile trade. Ivan Mirzoev
Ivan Mirzoev ( arm, Հովաննես Միրզոյան) (died 1880) was an Armenian businessman, the first person to drill oil in Baku and is considered one of the "founding fathers" of the Baku oil industry. He founded the Mirzoev Brothers oil company, which at the time had become one of the most effective and sustainable companies in the world oil industry. He was of Armenian descent.
