Føroya Skótaráð
In the Faroe Islands, there are four Scouting, Scout and Girl Guides, Guiding associations forming the Føroya Skótaráð (Faroese Scout Council). They work under the same basic rules, but they do have their own specialties. The council is a member of Fællesrådet for Danmarks Drengespejdere and has observer status with Pigespejdernes Fællesråd Danmark. Component associations Føroya Skótasamband Also known as ''The Yellow Scouts'', the organization was founded in 1926. There are five Scout groups in the country. The groups are not connected to religious organizations, and have both girls and boys as members. The uniform is a khaki shirt. There are just under 300 members. Skótalið Frelsunarhersins The Salvation Army Scouts or ''FH-Scouts'' were founded in 1939. There is only one small group in the country. Fællesrådet For Danmarks Drengespejdere
The Danish Scout Council (DSC; da, Dansk Spejderråd, formerly ''Fællesrådet for Danmarks Drengespejdere'', FDD) is the national Scouting federation of Denmark. Scouting was founded in Denmark in 1909 and among the charter members of WOSM in 1920. Denmark has 70,000 Scouts. History In 1920, ''Det Danske Spejderkorps'' (DDS) was among the founding members of the Boy Scouts' International Conference. The ''KFUM-Spejderne i Danmark'' (KFUM-S) gained an independent title of membership in 1924. In 1961, the World Scout Conference changed the statutes of WOSM requesting only one member per country. Thus, DDS and KFUM-S founded the ''Fællesrådet for Danmarks Drengespejdere'' which overtook the WOSM membership on 23 April 1962. Scout Motto
The Scout Motto of the Scout movement is, in English, "Be Prepared", with most international branches of the group using a close translation of that phrase. These mottoes have been used by millions of Scouts around the world since 1907. Most of the member organizations of the World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts (WAGGGS) share the same mottoes. Scout Law is a set of codes in the Scout movement. Since the publication of '' Scouting for Boys'' in 1908, all Scouts and Guides around the world have taken a Scout Promise or oath to live up to ideals of the movement, and subscribed to the Scout Law. The wording of the promise and law have varied slightly over time and among Scouting organizations. History The origin of the Scout Law derives from the parallel and closely connected development of the North American and British youth outdoor programs. When writing ''Scouting for Boys'', General Baden-Powell drew inspiration from the work of Ernest Thompson Seton, who had founded the Woodcraft Indians in Canada and the U.S. in 1902, and later was instrumental in spreading Scouting throughout North America. Scout Promise
The Scout Promise (or Oath) is a spoken statement made by a child joining the Scout movement. Since the publication of '' Scouting for Boys'' in 1908, all Scouts and Girl Guides around the world have taken a Scout (or Guide) promise or oath to live up to ideals of the movement, and subscribed to a Scout Law. The wording of the Scout Promise and Scout Law have varied slightly over time and from country to country. Although most Scouting and Guiding organizations use the word "promise", a few such as the Boy Scouts of America tend to use "oath" instead. Typically, Scouts and Guides will make the three-fingered Scout Sign when reciting the promise. YMCA, sometimes regionally called the Y, is a worldwide youth organization based in Geneva, Switzerland, with more than 64 million beneficiaries in 120 countries. YWCA
The Young Women's Christian Association (YWCA) is a nonprofit organization with a focus on empowerment, leadership, and rights of women, young women, and girls in more than 100 countries. The World office is currently based in Geneva, Switzerland, and the nonprofit is headquartered in Washington, DC. The YWCA is independent of the YMCA, but a few local YMCA and YWCA associations have merged into YM/YWCAs or YMCA-YWCAs and belong to both organizations, while providing the programs from each.
