Fêtes De Bayonne
The fêtes de Bayonne is a feria consisting in a series of festivals in the Northern Basque Country in the town of Bayonne. The festival lasts 5 days and always held during the summer months of July and/or August. It is the largest festival in France. In the eighties, participants started to dress in white with a red scarf and a red belt after the colours of the city of Pamplona. Some rare purists prefer to wear blue and white, the colours of the city of Bayonne. The festivals include musical and street performances, traditional dances, parades, and fireworks. The first "Fêtes de Bayonne," called "The Big Summer Festival," took place on July 13, 1932. It was instigated by a group of friends belonging to the Aviron Bayonnais rugby team. Aviron Bayonnais
Aviron Bayonnais (AB, ), commonly called Bayonne, is a French rugby union club from Bayonne (''Baiona'' in Basque) in Pyrénées-Atlantiques which competes in the Top 14, the top tier of the National Rugby League (France), French league system. Founded in 1904, they play at the Parc des Sports, also known as Stade Jean-Dauger, in Bayonne. The club mascot is a pottok pony called ''pottoka''. They have ties to the French Basque people, Basque community. History The club was established on 14 October 1906. Labourd
Labourd (; ; ; ) is a former French province and part of the present-day Pyrénées Atlantiques '' département'' of Nouvelle-Aquitaine region. It is one of the traditional Basque provinces, and identified as one of the territorial component parts of the Basque Country by many, especially by the Basque nationalists. Festival Of San Fermín
The festival of San Fermín is a week-long, traditional celebration held annually in the city of Pamplona, Navarre, Spain. The celebrations start at noon on 6 July and continue until midnight on 14 July. A firework (''chupinazo'') starts the celebrations and the popular song is sung at the end. Pamplona
