Færder Municipality
Færder is a municipality in Vestfold in Vestfold og Telemark county, Norway. The administrative centre of the municipality is the village of Borgheim. The municipality was established in 2018 by the unification of the former municipalities of Tjøme and Nøtterøy. The municipality is the 380th largest by area out of the 422 municipalities in Norway. Færder is the 39th most populous municipality in Norway with a population of 26,676. The municipality's population density is and its population has increased by 7.6% over the last decade. The Færder National Park, which was established in 2013, comprises islands and sea area east of the municipality. Færder Lighthouse
Færder Lighthouse ( no, Færder fyr) is a coastal lighthouse in the municipality of Færder in Vestfold og Telemark, Norway. The lighthouse is located on the archipelago Tristein, three small islands in the outer Oslofjord. It was first lit in 1857 as a replacement of the former Store Færder Lighthouse. Even Tollefsen
Even Tollefsen (September 4, 1841 – June 21, 1897) was a Norwegian sea captain and inventor. Tollefsen built the first useful system for shipping oil in tankers. He was a talented engineer that acquired most of his technical knowledge and skills through self-study. Life Even Tollefsen was the son of Torleif (Tollef) Hansen (1806–1885) and Kristine Marie Evensdatter (1807–1860) and was born at Østre Oterbekk on the island of Nøtterøy. His father was a sailor and a farmer. The family lived in several places on Nøtterøy until his father purchased the Tømmerholt farm on Nøtterøy in 1851. After he was confirmed, Tollefsen went to sea. Later he took the mate's and skipper's courses at the Tønsberg Seamen's School ( no, Tønsberg Sjømannsskole). Marcus Jacob Monrad
Marcus Jacob Monrad (19 January 1816 – 30 December 1897) was a Norwegian philosopher, a university professor for more than 40 years. He was born in Nøtterøy to parish priest Peder Monrad and Severine Elisabeth Ambroe, and grew up in Mo in Telemark. He graduated as cand.theol. in 1840, and was appointed professor at the Royal Frederick University in 1851. Around 1850 he published three textbooks for the examen philosophicum, which were used for these courses during the rest of the 19th century. Monrad took part in contemporary debates and had significant influence, but was also controversial. He is portrayed in Arne Garborg's 1883 novel ''Bondestudentar'' and in Alexander Kielland Alexander Lange Kielland (; 18 February 1849 – 6 April 1906) was a Norwegian realistic writer of the 19th century.
