''Futurama'' is an American animated science fiction sitcom created by Matt Groening for the Fox Broadcasting Company and later revived by Comedy Central, and then Hulu. The series follows Philip J. Fry, who is cryonics, cryogenically preserved for 1,000 years and revived on December 31, 2999. Fry finds work at the interplanetary delivery company Planet Express, working alongside the one-eyed mutant Leela (Futurama), Leela and the robot Bender (Futurama), Bender. The series was envisioned by Groening in the mid-1990s while working on ''The Simpsons''; he brought David X. Cohen aboard to develop storylines and characters to pitch the show to Fox. Patric Verrone
Patric Miller Verrone (born September 29, 1959) is an American television writer and labor leader. He served as a writer and producer for several animated television shows, most notably ''Futurama''. Schooling and pre-television career Verrone graduated magna cum laude from Harvard College in 1981 where he was an editor of the '' Harvard Lampoon''. He graduated from Boston College Law School in 1984 after serving as editor of the Boston College Law Review. He practiced law in Florida and California before becoming a television writer. Career in television Verrone began his career as a variety show writer, which included a late 1980s job as a monologue writer for ''The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson''. Cryonics
Cryonics (from ''kryos'', meaning "cold") is the low-temperature freezing (usually at ) and storage of human remains in the hope that resurrection may be possible in the future. Cryonics is regarded with skepticism by the mainstream scientific community. It is generally viewed as a pseudoscience, and its practice has been characterized as quackery. Cryonics procedures can begin only after the "patients" are clinically and legally dead. Procedures may begin within minutes of death, and use cryoprotectants to try to prevent ice formation during cryopreservation.
