''Hibiscus mutabilis'', also known as the Confederate rose, Dixie rosemallow, cotton rose or cotton rosemallow, is a plant long cultivated for its showy flowers. Originally native to southern China, it is now found on all continents except Antarctica. Description Confederate roses are semi-deciduous with palmately lobed leaves. They tend to be large shrubs or treelike in Hardiness zone, zones 9 and 10, though they have a more modest shrub-like appearance more north. Stems and Petiole (botany), petioles feature dense stellate and glandular hairs. Flowers can be double or single and are in diameter; they open white or pink, and change to deep red by evening. The 'Rubra' variety has red flowers. Single blooming flowers are generally cup-shaped. Bloom season usually lasts from summer through fall. Furong, Yongshun County
Furong () is a town in Yongshun County, Xiangxi Prefecture, Hunan. The town, also advertised as Furong Ancient Town, is a tourist attraction in mountainous northwest Hunan, approximately halfway between the popular tourist destinations of Fenghuang County and Zhangjiajie. The town is well known for its scenic location, situated on cliffs above a waterfall that falls into the You River. Furong was originally known as Wangcun, but was renamed following the success of the eponymous film, Hibiscus Town. The Furong River (), also known as the Pangu River (盘古河) is the largest tributary of the Wu River and flows through Guizhou Province and Chongqing Municipality, People's Republic of China. Description Rising in the Dalou Mountains in Suiyang County, Guizhou Province, the river flows from the south west northeast to Chongqing where it joins the Wu River at Jiangkou Town (江口镇) in Wulong County.
