Funkghost
Funkghost (born Alvin Augustus Harris on June 26, 1972) is an American hip-hop artist/producer from Tampa, Florida. Biography Funkghost was born in Newport News, Virginia, on June 26, 1972. In 1986, his family relocated to Tampa, Florida. After graduation from Bloomingdale High School in 1990, he began performing in and around Tampa's Ybor City commercial district with various bands/DJ's helping form the emerging hip hop scene in the Tampa Bay Area. Career Funkghost began his career in the early 1990s as a studio apprentice under the tutelage of keyboard/organ player Edwin Birdsong, who had worked extensively in the 1970s and early 1980s with Jazz Musician Roy Ayers. In the summer of 1999, Funkghost traveled to New York City and collaborated with Tampa Native Celph Titled who at the time was working as an in-house producer and A&R for the now-defunct BUDS International and Bronx Science Records. Caviar Taste
''Caviar Taste'' is the second full-length studio album by American hip-hop artist/producer Funkghost. The 13-song LP was released on October 31, 2014. on Grand Extravagant Ent. Background Principle recording began in the summer of 2013. The album was completed in the spring of 2014. Funkghost revealed that the album would offer a mixture of rap, hip hop, funk, R&B, gospel, electro, and trap reverberations. Recording and production The album was executive-produced by Funkghost, with production from Downtown Music, J Breezz, Epik The Dawn, Paul Cabbin, Scott Supreme, O.P. Supa, 2 Fresh, Tweeknology, Scott Styles and Sean Murdz. Singles On January 1, 2014, Funkghost released a song titled "YSL Logo". Edwin Birdsong
Edwin L. Birdsong (August 22, 1941 – January 21, 2019) was an American keyboardist and organist, known in the 1970s and 1980s for his experimental funk/disco music. Birdsong did not achieve much chart success, but developed a strong fan base. Birdsong has also been sampled by other artists many times, most famously by Daft Punk who sampled "Cola Bottle Baby" in " Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger", and Gang Starr who sampled his single "Rapper Dapper Snapper" for their song "Skills". Biography Birdsong was the son of a minister and grew up in a strict fundamentalist environment. He joined the Los Angeles Community Choir for a period before serving in the army during the Vietnam War era. While in the army, he was stationed in Germany. Bloomingdale Senior High School is a public high school located in Valrico, Florida. Bloomingdale was established in 1987, three years after Gaither High School, and has its same architectural design. Bloomingdale's first graduating class was in 1989, since Hillborough County does not pull seniors from existing schools for new schools. The current principal is Marcos Rodriguez.
