Odense ( , , ) is the third largest city in Denmark (after Copenhagen and Aarhus) and the largest city on the island of Funen. As of 1 January 2025, the city proper had a population of 185,480 while Odense Municipality had a population of 210,803, making it the fourth largest municipality in Denmark (behind Copenhagen, Aarhus and Aalborg municipalities). Eurostat and OECD have used a definition for the Metropolitan area of Odense (referred to as a ''Functional urban area''), which includes all municipalities in the Province (Danish: Provinces of Denmark, ''landsdel'') of Funen (Danish: ''Fyn''), with a total population of 504,066 as of 1 July 2022. The Ministry of Culture Denmark ( Danish: ''Kulturministeriet'') is a ministry of the Danish Government, with responsibility for culture, sport and media. History The Ministry is located at Gammel Strand on Nybrogade opposite Slotsholmen. Originally, it was a three-winged building. Its construction started in 1729. In 1765, it was expanded with the complex with a new wing facing the canal which was designed was added by architect Philip de Lange (c. 1705-1766). Jutland Art Academy
Jutland Art Academy (, abbreviated DJK), is a state recognized institute for higher education in Aarhus, Denmark, offering a 5-year programme in contemporary art. The academy has no departments and focuses on conceptually driven practices and transdisciplinary work. The academy has about 50 students. The school is located in the street of Mejlgade in the Latin Quarter of Aarhus. Other recognized Art Academies in Denmark comprise the Royal Danish Academy of Art in Copenhagen, and Funen Art Academy in Odense. There are other institutions which also use the name 'art academy', but none of these are state recognized as institutions of higher education.
