Fujairah City () is the capital of the emirate of Fujairah in the United Arab Emirates. It is the List of cities in the United Arab Emirates, seventh-largest city in UAE, located on the Gulf of Oman (part of the Indian Ocean). It is the only Emirati capital city on the UAE's east coast. The city of Fujairah is an industrial and commercial hub located on the west coast of the Indian Ocean that sits at the foothills of the Hajar Mountains. Demographics In 2016, the city had a population of 97,226, a significant number (43%) compared to 225,360 in the entire emirate. In 2023, the population grew to 118,933. Hamad Bin Abdulla Road
Hamad Bin Abdulla Road is the main road running east–west through Fujairah City, Emirate of Fujairah, United Arab Emirates. Hamad Bin Abdulla Road is a hub for the business and commercial centre of Fujairah City. It is lined with tall office buildings (e.g., Fujairah Tower) and hotels. The main mosque, the large white Sheikh Zayed Mosque, Fujairah, Sheikh Zayed Mosque, the second largest in the UAE, is to the north of the road. The LuLu Mall Fujairah is to the south. The University of Fujairah is located on the road. The Sheikh Zayed Mosque, Fujairah (), is the main mosque in the Emirate of Fujairah, and the second largest in the U.A.E. after the mosque with the same name in Abu Dhabi. Sheikh Hamad bin Mohammed Al Sharqi (; born 22 February 1949) is an Emirati royal and politician who is the ruler of the Emirate of Fujairah, and was the first minister of agriculture and fisheries in the United Arab Emirates between 1971 and 1974. Early life Hamad Al Sharqi was born in 1949, the son of Sheikh Mohammed bin Hamad Al Sharqi, former ruler of the Emirate of Fujairah, one of the principalities which make up the United Arab Emirates. His mother, Sheikha Fatima bint Rashid Al Nuaimi, was a princess of the neighbouring Emirate of Ajman; she was the sister of the present ruler of Ajman, Sheikh Humaid bin Rashid Al Nuaimi.
