Fuel TV (international)
Fuel TV is a sports-orientated digital cable and satellite television action sports channel owned by FUEL TV Global, S.A. The channel is focused on the culture of extreme sports such as skateboarding, snowboarding, wakeboarding, motocross, surfing, BMX, FMX and is available in many countries including Portugal, China, North Africa and the Middle East. Originally, Fuel TV was launched as a weekly regional music and extreme sports television series in September 2001 by video producer Chris Braly and aired on American WB affiliate WFLI-TV (channel 53, now a CW affiliate) in Chattanooga, Tennessee in the Saturday evening programming slot. In July 2003 News Corporation began negotiations to buy out the Fuel TV trademark and concept from Chris Braly and make it a part of their Fox-Sports Network. 576i is a standard-definition television, standard-definition digital video mode, originally used for Digitization, digitizing 625 lines, 625 line Analog television, analogue television in most countries of the world where the utility frequency for electric power distribution is 50 Hz. Because of its close association with the legacy colour encoding systems, it is often referred to as PAL#PAL region, PAL, PAL/SECAM or SECAM when compared to its 60 Hz (typically, see PAL-M) NTSC-colour-encoded counterpart, 480i. The WB
The WB Television Network (shortened to The WB, stylized as "THE WB", and nicknamed the "Frog Network" and/or "The Frog" for its former mascot Michigan J. Frog) was an American television network that ran from 1995 to 2006. It launched on terrestrial television, broadcast television on January 11, 1995, as a joint venture amongst the Warner Bros., Warner Bros. Entertainment division of Time Warner, the Tribune Broadcasting subsidiary of the Tribune Media, Tribune Company (later bought by Nexstar Media Group), and Jamie Kellner, with the first acting as controlling partner (and from which The WB received its name). The channel is based at the Fox Sports division's headquarters on the Fox Studio Lot in the Century City section of Los Angeles, California. The network was founded as Fuel TV on July 1, 2003, focusing on the culture of extreme sports, including skateboarding, snowboarding, wakeboarding, motocross, surfing, BMX and FMX. The network's prominence expanded further with the introduction of UFC mixed martial arts programming to its lineup in 2012 as part of a wider deal with Fox Sports. On August 17, 2013, Fuel TV was rebranded as Fox Sports 2, refocusing primarily as an overflow channel for the newly launched mainstream sports network Fox Sports 1. Free advertising-supported streaming television (FAST) is a category of streaming television services which offer traditional linear television programming ("live TV") and studio-produced movies without a paid subscription, funded exclusively by advertising akin to free-to-air TV stations. Platforms following this model include Pluto TV, Rakuten TV (not available in the United States, but added internationally), The Roku Channel, Samsung TV Plus, Tubi, and Xumo.
