Fuchu Himba Stakes
The Fuchu Himba Stakes (Japanese 府中牝馬ステークス) is a Japanese Grade 3 horse race for Thoroughbred fillies and mares aged three and over run in June over a distance of 1,800 meters at Tokyo Racecourse. It was first run in 1953 and was promoted to Grade 3 in 1984 before being run as a Group 2 race since 2011. The race was usually contested over 1,600 meters before being moved up to 1,800 meters in 1996. The race used to serve as a trial for the Queen Elizabeth II Cup. In 2025, the race schedule was moved from October to June, downgraded to Grade 3, and lost its Queen Elizabeth II Cup trial status. Weight 53 kg for three-year-olds, 55 kg for four-year-olds and above. Tokyo Racecourse
is located in Fuchū, Tokyo, Japan. Built in 1933 for horse racing, it is considered the "racecourse of racecourses" in Japanese horseracing. It has a capacity of 223,000, with seating for 13,750. Tokyo Racecourse hosts numerous G1 (Grade 1) races, including the Japan Cup, Tokyo Yushun (the Japanese Derby) and the Yasuda Kinen, a part of the Asian Mile Challenge. Physical attributes Tokyo Racecourse's grass course measures with two chutes (1800 m and 2000 m). Yasuo Tomomichi
Yasuo Tomomichi (; born August 11, 1963) is a Japanese horse trainer of the Japan Racing Association. Career Tomomichi was born in the district of Akō, Hyōgo. After graduating from in 1982, he enrolled in the Osaka Prefecture University's School of Veterinary Medicine to become a veterinarian, and joined the University's Equestrian Club. As part of the Club's activity, he took up a part time job as a security guard at a horse racing track, which is where Tomomichi was introduced to the world of horse racing. After working as a groom and assistant trainer at the stables of and , Tomomichi obtained a Trainer license in 2001 before opening his own stable at the Ritto Training Center in 2002. Tomomichi scored his first win on December 1 of that year when Inter Marvelous won an allowance race at Chukyo Racecourse. Kazuhiro Sasaki (佐々木 主浩 ''Sasaki Kazuhiro'', born February 22, 1968) is a Japanese former professional baseball relief pitcher. He played his entire Nippon Professional Baseball (NPB) career with the Yokohama Taiyō Whales / Yokohama BayStars (1990–1999; 2004–2005), and played his entire Major League Baseball (MLB) career with the Seattle Mariners (2000–2003). Deirdre (horse)
Deirdre (foaled 4 April 2014) is a retired Japanese Thoroughbred racehorse. As a two-year-old she raced six times, winning one minor race and running third in the Fantasy Stakes. In the following year she developed into a top-class performer in autumn as she took the Shion Stakes and Shuka Sho. As a four-year-old she won the Queen Stakes and the Fuchu Himba Stakes as well as being placed in both the Dubai Turf and the Hong Kong Cup. In 2019 she became the first Japan-trained horse in 19 years to win a major race in the United Kingdom when she won the Nassau Stakes. She retired from racing in November 2020 at the end of a season in which she did not win a race. Over her career she raced in eight countries. Yasunari Iwata
(born March 12, 1974; from Himeji, Hyōgo Prefecture) is a Japanese jockey who rode the winner of the 2006 Melbourne Cup, Delta Blues. It was Iwata's first race outside Japan. He debuted in the Hyōgo Keiba, one of the racing organizations in National Association of Racing (NAR). He has started riding in selected events in Japan Racing Association (JRA) since 2002. Mirco Demuro
Mirco Demuro (, January 11, 1979) is an Italian jockey based in Japan. His younger brother, Cristian, as well as their sister, Pamela, is also a jockey. Their late father Giovanni was also a jockey. Career Mirco Demuro first earned his jockey license in 1994 and became the leading learning jockey of Italy in 1995. He was the leading jockey of Italy from 1997 to 2000. Among the horses he rode in Italy was Falbrav, who he rode on the horse's maiden race. Demuro first came to Japan in 1999, and won his first graded race in the country in 2001 when he won the Kokura Daishoten with . Christophe Lemaire
Christophe Patrice Lemaire (Japanese:, born 20 May 1979) is a French-born jockey. He has enjoyed much of his success on the Japanese flat racing circuit, with the most wins at Japan Racing Association racetracks for five consecutive years since 2017. Career Lemaire began racing in 1999, after he obtained the license required for a French jockey. (born 28 March 1964, Kanazawa, Ishikawa) is a Japanese retired trainer of Thoroughbred race horses. He trained the first and second placing horses in the 2006 Melbourne Cup, Delta Blues and Pop Rock. Masayoshi Ebina
(born March 19, 1969, in Hokkaidō, Japan) is a Japanese horse trainer and former jockey. He has also been nicknamed ''Ebi-Shō''. He decided to become a jockey after watching Green Grass win the Kikuka Sho. He is best known for riding El Condor Pasa, winning the Japan Cup in 1998 and taking second place in the 1999 Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe. In 2010 he won the Japanese Fillies' Triple Crown with Apapane. He retired as a jockey in February 2021 after earning his license as a horse trainer. He inherited 33 horses from Kazuo Fujisawa in 2022, as he was retiring from horse training.
