Frédéric Brenner
Frédéric Brenner (born 1959) is a French photographer known for his documentation of Jewish communities around the world. His work has been exhibited internationally, among others, at the International Center of Photography in New York, the Musée de l'Élysée in Lausanne, Rencontres d'Arles in Arles, the Brooklyn Museum in New York, and the Joods Historisch Museum in Amsterdam. In 1996, Brenner created an installation on Ellis Island, in New York, featuring several prominent Jewish Americans, including Lauren Bacall, Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg, Mark Spitz and Mayor Ed Koch among others. This Place (art Project)
This Place was a global art project that explored the complexity of Israel and the West Bank through the eyes of twelve photographers: Frédéric Brenner, Gilles Peress (France); Wendy Ewald, Fazal Sheikh, Stephen Shore, Rosalind Solomon (USA); Martin Kollar (Slovakia); Josef Koudelka (Czech Republic); Jungjin Lee (South Korea); Thomas Struth (Germany); Jeff Wall (Canada); and Nick Waplington (Britain). Each photographer created works in response to his or her own experience in the area; a total of over 500 images were exhibited internationally and published in a series of monographs. Nick Waplington (born 1965) is a British / American artist and photographer. Many books of Waplington's work have been published, both self-published and through Aperture, Cornerhouse, Mack, Phaidon, and Trolley. Jeff Wall
Jeffrey Wall, Order of Canada, OC, Royal Society of Canada, RSA (born September 29, 1946) is a Canadian photographer. He is artist best known for his large-scale back-lit Cibachrome photographs and art history writing. Early in his career, he helped define the Vancouver School and he has published essays on the work of his colleagues and fellow Vancouverites Rodney Graham, Ken Lum, and Ian Wallace (artist), Ian Wallace. Rosalind Fox Solomon (April 2, 1930 – June 23, 2025) was an American photographer based in New York City. Stephen Shore
Stephen Shore (born October 8, 1947) is an American photographer known for his images of scenes and objects of the banal, and for his pioneering use of color in art photography. His books include ''Uncommon Places'' (1982) and ''American Surfaces'' (1999), photographs that he took on cross-country road trips in the 1970s. In 1975 Shore received a Guggenheim Fellowship. In 1971, he was the first living photographer to be exhibited at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City, where he had a solo show of black and white photographs. Gilles Peress
Gilles Peress (born December 29, 1946) is a French photographer and a member of Magnum Photos. Peress began working with photography in 1970, having previously studied political science and philosophy in Paris. One of Peress' first projects examined immigration in Europe, and he has since documented events in Northern Ireland, Lebanon, Palestine, Iran, the Balkans, Rwanda, the U.S., Afghanistan and Iraq. His ongoing project, Hate Thy Brother, a cycle of documentary narratives, looks at intolerance and the re-emergence of nationalism throughout the world and its consequences. Jungjin Lee
Jungjin Lee (born 1961) is a South Korean photographer and artist who currently lives and works in New York City. Early life and education Lee was born in South Korea in 1961. She studied calligraphy in childhood and majored in ceramics at Hongik University, graduating with a Bachelor's of Fine Art in 1984. She earned a Master of Arts in photography from New York University in 1992. After graduating Lee worked as a photojournalist and later as a freelance photographer. In 1987, she completed a year-long project documenting the life of an old man who made his living hunting for wild ginseng.
