Fruit (podcast)
''Fruit'' is a podcast created by Issa Rae and distributed on Howl. The series is an audio drama about a football player who is exploring his sexuality while trying to navigate the hypermasculine culture of the NFL. Background The show debuted in February 2016. The episodes were released every Wednesday exclusively on Howl. Each episode is roughly 20 minutes in length. The show consists of two seasons. The series is told in a first-person retrospective narration. The podcast was originally released behind Howl's paywall, but was re-released outside of the paywall about a year later. Midroll Media incorporated product placement into the script of the show for Mailchimp. Issa Rae created the show shortly before becoming well known for shows like ''Insecure''. Jo-Issa Rae Diop (born January 12, 1985), known professionally as Issa Rae, is an American actress, writer, and producer. She achieved recognition as the co-creator, co-writer, and star of the HBO comedy series '' Insecure'' (2016–2021), for which she was nominated for multiple Golden Globes Awards and Primetime Emmy Awards. Rae first garnered attention for her work on the YouTube web series '' Awkward Black Girl'' (2011–2013). Hypermasculinity
Hypermasculinity is a psychological and sociological term for the exaggeration of male stereotypical behavior, such as an emphasis on physical strength, aggression, and human male sexuality. In the field of clinical psychology, this term has been used ever since the publication of research by Donald L. Mosher and Mark Sirkin in 1984. Mosher and Sirkin operationally define hypermasculinity or the " macho personality" as consisting of three variables: *Callous sexual attitudes toward women *The belief that violence is manly *The experience of danger as exciting They developed the ''Hypermasculinity Inventory'' (HMI) designed to measure the three components. ''Scripted'' is the debut studio album by American rock band Icon for Hire. It was released on Tooth & Nail Records on August 23, 2011, and went on to break the label's new artist record for albums sold during the first week of release. Background This is the band's first label release; they had released two EPs prior to being signed, ''Icon for Hire EP'' (2008) and ''The Grey EP'' (2009). Three songs from those recordings reappear here with altered arrangements and lyrics: "Off with Her Head", "The Grey", and "Only a Memory" (originally called "Pernilla"). This is also the band's first recording without original bassist Joshua Davis; Josh Kincheloe would be brought in to replace him in 2011. Michael Alan Sam Jr. (born January 7, 1990) is an American former professional American football, football defensive lineman who is a coach for the Panthers Wrocław in the European League of Football (ELF). Sam played college football for the Missouri Tigers football, Missouri Tigers and was selected by the St. Louis Rams of the National Football League (NFL) in the seventh round of the 2014 NFL draft.
