''From a Far Country'' (, , also known as ''From a Far Country: Pope John Paul II'') is a 1981 biographical drama film written and directed by Krzysztof Zanussi. A co-production between United Kingdom, Italy and Poland, it is loosely based on real life events of Karol Wojtyła, the future Pope John Paul II. The film had a 5 million of dollars budget. Krzysztof Zanussi
Krzysztof Pius Zanussi (born 17 June 1939) is a Polish film and theatre director, producer and screenwriter. He is a professor of European film at the European Graduate School in Saas-Fee, Switzerland where he conducts a summer workshop. He is also a professor at the Krzysztof Kieślowski Film School of the University of Silesia in Katowice. Charles Philip Latham (17 January 1929 – 20 June 2020) was an English actor. He was best known for playing Willy Izard in '' The Troubleshooters'' (1965–1972) and Plantagenet Palliser in '' The Pallisers'' (1974).
