From First To Last
From First to Last is an American post-hardcore band formed in Tampa, Florida by Matt Good, Scott Oord, and Parker Nelms in November 1999. The current line-up consists of Matt Good (lead vocals and lead guitar), Travis Richter (rhythm guitar and unclean vocals), and Derek Bloom (drums). The band released their first EP ''Aesthetic'' in 2003, which they recorded with founding member and vocalist Phillip Reardon. Reardon left the band in 2004 due to personal and creative differences. After signing with Epitaph Records, the band recruited Sonny Moore as their new vocalist. The band's first two albums, '' Dear Diary, My Teen Angst Has a Bodycount'' (2004) and ''Heroine'' (2006), were both underground successes, selling a combined total of 304,000 copies in the United States by 2008 even with a lack of radio airplay. Derek Bloom
Derek Bloom (born January 30, 1983, in South Pasadena, California) is an American musician and singer, known for drumming in post-hardcore band From First to Last for all of their time as a band until their revival. He left From First to Last in November 2013, later rejoining in 2017. He is also the drummer for his grindcore side-project with Travis Richter, known as The Color of Violence. Throne To The Wolves
''Throne to the Wolves'' is the fourth studio album by the post-hardcore band From First to Last. This was the only album by From First to Last to be released on the record label Rise Records and is the first and only album the band made without guitarist and backup singer Travis Richter (who left the band in 2009, returning in 2013 as part of their reunion). It is also the band's only release with guitarist Blake Steiner and the band's last release before their hiatus in 2010, until the band's reunion in 2013 whereupon they announced the recording of a new album. ''From First to Last'' is the third album by Post-Hardcore band From First to Last, released on May 6, 2008 through Suretone and Interscope Records. "Two as One" is the album's first single, which hit the radio on March 17. This is the first full-length album by the band without Sonny Moore (Skrillex) as lead vocalist; the band's guitarist, Matt Good, takes over from him. In contrast to the band's previous album ''Heroine'', the album features a more accessible, alternative rock sound. ''From First To Last'' received mixed reviews from critics, and its change in sound alienated the band's fanbase. Subsequently, despite being given a high profile marketing campaign by Suretone, the album underperformed commercially, and only reached number 81 on the ''Billboard'' 200; as a result, the band split from the label the following year. ''Heroine'' is the second studio album by American post-hardcore band From First to Last. It was released on March 21, 2006 through Epitaph Records. It is the band's only album to feature Wes Borland, who plays bass, and the band's last album to feature lead vocalist Sonny Moore before his first departure from the band in early 2007. Upon release, ''Heroine'' received generally positive reviews and charted at number 25 on the ''Billboard'' 200, selling more than 33,000 copies within its first week, and 91,000 copies in four months. It is the band's highest-selling album, and has sold more than 232,000 copies as of April 2008. As a result of its success, From First To Last was subject to a major label bidding war, ultimately signing to Capitol Records in July 2006. ''Dear Diary, My Teen Angst Has a Bodycount'' is the debut studio album by American post-hardcore band From First to Last. It was released on June 28, 2004, through Epitaph Records. The title was taken from a monologue in the film ''Heathers'', in which Winona Ryder's character is writing in her diary. Production was handled by Lee Dyess and the band themselves. The album was remastered by Beau Burchell from Saosin, however, it is not indicated on the personnel, possibly due to a contemporary feud between the band. The album is also notable for being one of the earliest projects featuring singer and multi-instrumentalist Sonny Moore (who has since launched a successful solo career as an electronic music producer and performer, under the stage name Skrillex). Sonny John Moore (born January 15, 1988), known professionally as Skrillex, is an American DJ, record producer, musician, singer. Raised in Northeast Los Angeles and Northern California, he began his career in 2004 as the lead vocalist of the post-hardcore band From First to Last. He recorded their first two studio albums with the band, ''Dear Diary, My Teen Angst Has a Bodycount'' (2004) and ''Heroine'' (2006), before leaving to pursue a solo career in 2007. Post-hardcore
Post-hardcore is a punk rock music genre that maintains the aggression and intensity of hardcore punk but emphasizes a greater degree of creative expression. Like the term " post-punk", the term "post-hardcore" has been applied to a broad constellation of groups. Initially taking inspiration from post-punk and noise rock, post-hardcore began in the 1980s with bands like Hüsker Dü and Minutemen. The genre expanded in the 1980s and 1990s with releases by bands from cities which had established hardcore scenes, such as Fugazi from Washington, D.C. as well as groups such as Big Black, Jawbox, Quicksand, and Shellac who stuck closer to post-hardcore's noise rock roots. Dischord Records became a major nexus of post-hardcore during this period.
