Frit Forum
Frit Forum - Social Democratic Students of Denmark ( da, Frit Forum – socialdemokratiske studerende, or just ''Frit Forum'') is the student organization of the Danish Social Democrats. It was established in 1943 during the Nazi occupation of Denmark as a means of reaching out to the growing number of students in the labour movement. Since then, it has had a decisive impact on Danish politics, fostering many leaders and influential Social Democrats. Former PES-president Poul Nyrup Rasmussen, former Danish frontrunner to the European Parliament Dan Jørgensen, and former Minister of Finance Mogens Lykketoft began their paths in Frit Forum. The Social Democratic Youth of Denmark ( da, Danmarks Socialdemokratiske Ungdom, DSU) is the national youth wing of the Danish Social Democrats. It is not to be confused with Frit Forum, which is for those in higher education, and whose membership is not restricted by age, unlike the DSU. The organisation is autonomous from the Social Democrats and as such is entitled to formulate its own policies and devise its own campaigns. The Social Democratic Youth movement was established in 1920 after a break-up of the former youth organisation, the Social Democratic Youth League (', SUF). At first, the organisation was known as the "DsU". The founders of DSU wanted to change the Danish society by gradual reforms and not by revolution. The Social Democratic Students of Sweden ( sv, Socialdemokratiska Studentförbundet ; S-Studenter) is the student organisation of the Swedish Social Democratic Party. The organisations acronym is SSF, this acronym is most commonly used in international organisations such as IUSY or YES. Created again in 1990, the organisation today has about 1200 members spread out over the country, most of them students at either universities or poly-technics. The organisation is today run by Talla Alkurdi, previously a student at Göteborg University, and Sverker Falk-Lissel, a student at Stockholm university. The Social Democratic Students of Sweden focuses on questions connected to higher education but also organises seminars and debates on various topics such as: international affairs, gender equality, discrimination and equality at the labour market.
