Frieda Schmitt-Lermann
Frieda Schmitt-Lermann (born 24 May 1885) was a German composer and pianist who wrote music for orchestra, television, theatre and voice. Life Schmitt-Lermann was born in Wurzburg. She studied piano privately in Augsburg, then studied composition in Munich with Josef Schmid. Little is known about Schmitt-Lermann’s personal life. Schmitt-Lermann’s ''Kompositionen fuer Violine und Klavier'' was recorded commercially on LP KASKA 1 BLN 30. Her music was published by Boehm & Sohn and Otto Halbreiter. Würzburg (; Main-Franconian: ) is, after Nuremberg and Fürth, the Franconia#Towns and cities, third-largest city in Franconia located in the north of Bavaria. Josef Schmid (composer)
Josef Schmid (1890, in Germany – 1969, in New York City) was a conductor, composer, and composition teacher. He was one of the first students of Alban Berg, with whom he studied before World War I. As a conductor Schmid had been an assistant to both Zemlinsky and Erich Kleiber. As a composer Schmid was associated with Berg and Webern but considered himself a musical "godson" of Schoenberg.AllAboutJazz.com, op. cit. After World War I Schmid emigrated to New York City and established himself as a teacher of composition, basing his teaching on the writings of Schoenberg. Friedrich Schiller
Johann Christoph Friedrich von Schiller (, short: ; 10 November 17599 May 1805) was a German playwright, poet, philosopher and historian. Schiller is considered by most Germans to be Germany's most important classical playwright. He was born in Marbach to a devoutly Protestant family. Initially intended for the priesthood, in 1773 he entered a military academy in Stuttgart and ended up studying medicine. His first play, ''The Robbers'', was written at this time and proved very successful. After a brief stint as a regimental doctor, he left Stuttgart and eventually wound up in Weimar. In 1789, he became professor of History and Philosophy at Jena, where he wrote historical works. During the last seventeen years of his life (1788–1805), Schiller developed a productive, if complicated, friendship with the already famous and influential Johann Wolfgang von Goethe.
