The Fresno State Bulldogs softball team represents California State University, Fresno in NCAA Division I (NCAA), Division I college softball. The team participates in the Mountain West Conference. The Bulldogs are currently led by head coach Stacy May-Johnson. The team's assistant coaches are Shelby Miller, Bobby Alvara, and Racquel Savoy. Stacy May-Johnson
Stacy May-Johnson (born Stacy Margarita May; May 15, 1984) is an American, former collegiate, three-time professional All-Star softball player and current head coach at Fresno State. She played college softball for Iowa, being named a three-time all-conference third baseman and shortstop. May-Johnson was selected twelfth overall in the National Pro Fastpitch, eventually playing for the Chicago Bandits. She was named the inaugural Rookie of the Year in 2006 and a two-time Player of the Year in 2008 and 2010 for the league. She also helped the Bandits to win two championships and ranks in the top-10 in career hits (267) and home runs (38). Trisha Lynn Ford (née Dean; born October 19, 1977) is an American college softball coach. She is the head softball coach at the Texas A&M University, a position she has held since the 2023 season. Ford served as the head softball coach at Saint Mary's College of California from 2002 to 2003, California State University, Fresno from 2013 to 2016, and Arizona State University from 2017 to 2022. Marjorie Ann Wright (born December 28, 1952) is an American former college softball coach. She was the head softball coach at California State University, Fresno—more commonly known as Fresno State—from 1986 to 2012. She led the Fresno State Bulldogs softball, Fresno State Bulldogs to the NCAA national softball championship in 1998 and is the NCAA's second all-time winningest softball coach. She also ranks second all-time in career victories among Division I (NCAA), NCAA Division I coaches in all sports. She was inducted into the National Fastpitch Coaches Association Hall of Fame in 2000 and the International Women's Sports Hall of Fame in 2001. She retired at the end of the 2012 season. Big West Conference
The Big West Conference (BWC) is an American collegiate List of NCAA conferences, athletic conference whose member institutions participate in the National Collegiate Athletic Association's NCAA Division I, Division I. The conference was originally formed on July 1, 1969, as the Pacific Coast Athletic Association (PCAA), and in 1988 was renamed the Big West Conference. The conference stopped sponsoring college football after the 2000 season.
