Fresh Hell (film)
''Fresh Hell'' is 2021 American horror film directed by Ryan Imhoff and Matt Neal. Synopsis During the dog days of the pandemic, a group of old friends encounter a psychotic troll in this critically acclaimed horror comedy film. Production The film was conceived and shot by a group of Chicago theatre artists who were out of work due to the COVID-19 pandemic. In an interview with Rue-Morgue, writer-director Ryan Imhoff stated the idea for the film was born in July of 2020. Release The film premiered on September 11, 2021 at HorrorHound Film Festival where it won Best Feature Film. The movie later played at the Music Box Theatre and was released on DVD and streaming platforms on June 10, 2022. Reception On the review aggregator website Rotten Tomatoes, the film has an approval rating of 100%, with an average score of 7.5/10, based on reviews from 5 critics. The Music Box Theatre is a historic movie theater located in Chicago, Illinois. Built in 1929, it has been operating continuously as an art-house and repertory cinema since the early 1980s. History The Music Box opened on August 22, 1929 at 3733 North Southport Avenue as a single screen theater with a seating capacity of 750. The opening night film was '' Mother’s Boy''. In 1931 the Music Box was one of several theaters bombed during an ongoing dispute between the Allied Independent Theaters' Association and the Motion Picture Operators' Union as the theater was employing non-union projectionists. Between 1977 and 1983, the Music Box was used sporadically for Spanish language films, pornographic films and Arabic language films. Screenlife or computer screen film is a genre of visual storytelling where all the events are shown on a computer, tablet or smartphone screen. It became popular in the 2010s with the growing impact of the Internet. According to Timur Bekmambetov, the Russian-Kazakh director and producer, a computer screen film should take place on one specific screen, never move outside of the screen, the camerawork should resemble the behavior of the device's camera, all the action should take place in real time, without any visible transitions and all the sounds should originate from the computer.
