French Frigate Thémis (1799)
''Thémis'' was a 40-gun of the French Navy. Service Launched at Rochefort Arsenal, Rochefort in 1799 and commissioned in 1801,Winfield & Roberts, p.131 she took part in the Battle of Cape Finisterre (1805), Battle of Cape Finisterre (22 July 1805) and in the Battle of Trafalgar (21 October 1805). During Trafalgar she was commanded by Captain Nicolas Joseph Pierre Jugan. After the battle she towed the Spanish ships of the line Spanish ship Principe de Asturias (1794), ''Principe de Asturias'' and ''Spanish ship Santa Ana (1784), Santa Ana'' to safety in Cádiz. Lamellerie's expedition Still under the command of Captain Jugan, on 26 February 1806 she took part in Lamellerie's expedition, a squadron commanded by the most senior frigate captain in Cádiz, Captain Louis-Charles-Auguste Delamarre de Lamellerie. ''Santa Ana'' was a 112-gun three-decker ship of the line of the Spanish Navy, built to plans drawn by engineer Miguel de la Puente, following a specification issued by Romero Landa, José Romero Fernández de Landa.
