Ania Freer
Ania Freer is an Australian-Jamaican documentary filmmaker. She has documented oral histories of the people of Jamaica as a curator and through her filmmaking. Her film ''Strictly Two Wheel'' won the Best Documentary Short Film Award at the Trinidad and Tobago Film Festival in 2022. Born in Sydney, Australia, Freer graduated from the University of Sydney. She has exhibited at the National Gallery of Jamaica. Early life and education Ania Freer was born in Sydney, Australia. Freer is a city in Duval County, Texas, United States. Its population was 2,461 at the 2020 census. Geography Freer is located in northwestern Duval County at (27.879156, –98.616237). U.S. Route 59 passes east–west through the city as Riley Street. Once outside the city limits, US 59 leads northeast to Beeville and southwest to Laredo. Texas State Highway 16 (Norton Avenue) crosses US 59 in the center of town and leads north to San Antonio and southwest to Zapata on the Rio Grande. Texas State Highway 44 passes through the center of Freer on Riley Street with US 59, but leads east to San Diego, the Duval County seat, and to Alice, and west to Interstate 35 at Encinal. Warren Wilfred Freer (27 December 1920 – 29 March 2013) was a New Zealand politician and member of the Labour Party. He represented the Mount Albert electorate from to . He is internationally known as the first Western politician to ever visit the People's Republic of China after its creation in 1949. Early life Freer was born in 1920. His parents, Charles and May Freer had lived in Waihi during the Waihi miners' strike in 1913 and had to leave the town. They married in 1914 in Remuera. Robert Elliott Freer (January 30, 1896 – January 6, 1963) was an Ohio attorney who served as chair of the Federal Trade Commission from January 1, 1939, to December 31, 1939, again from January 1, 1944, to December 31, 1944, and a third time from January 1, 1948, to December 31, 1948. Air Chief Marshal Sir Robert William George Freer, (1 September 1923 – 15 January 2012) was a Royal Air Force (RAF) officer who served as Deputy Commander of Strike Command from 1978 to 1979. RAF career Educated at Gosport Grammar School, Freer joined the Royal Air Force during the Second World War and became a flying instructor. He was given command of No. 92 Squadron in 1955, and became Station Commander of RAF Seletar in Singapore in 1963 during the Indonesia–Malaysia confrontation. James Simmons Freer (4 January 1855 – 22 December 1933) was a Canadian filmmaking pioneer. Born in Woodstock, Oxfordshire Freer was a newspaper reporter who emigrated to Manitoba, Canada in 1888 from Bristol and became a farmer, settling south of Winnipeg, in the Brandon Hills district. Less than two years after the Lumière Brothers exhibited the first film in France, Freer became the first Canadian filmmaker. He made films about the Canadian prairies, especially themes of farming and railways, which were shown as early as 1897. The Canadian Pacific Railway Company noticed Freer's films and began to tour them throughout the United Kingdom in an effort to promote immigration to Canada.
