''Free'' is the second studio album by American R&B group For Real. It was released on September 17, 1996 via Rowdy Records. Recording sessions took place at D.A.R.P. Studios and Silent Studios in Atlanta, at Riversound Studios in Lithonia, at the Record Plant, SoulPower Studio and Saturn Sound in Los Angeles. Production was handled by Dallas Austin, Soulshock, Babyface, Craig B, Daryl Simmons, Mario Winans, Stephen Bray and Tony Shepperd. In the United States, the album debuted at number 100 on the Top R&B Albums chart. Its lead single, " Like I Do", peaked at number 72 on the US ''Billboard'' Hot 100, number 45 on the UK singles chart and number 49 in New Zealand. The follow-up single, " The Saddest Song I Ever Heard", only made it to number 65 on the US Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs. For Real is an American R&B and soul quartet, that formed in 1990. In the latter part of that decade they were nominated for a Billboard Music Award and a Soul Train Music Award. The ladies have now reunited and are touring. Biography For Real secured their recording contract by accident. "We were picking up our manager from the airport. So we decided to greet him with an acappella song. Someone from A&M Records just happened to be in the airport and heard us perform. Not long after, we were signed," said Latanyia Baldwin. The band released their debut album, '' It's a Natural Thang'', with production from Brian McKnight on A&M Records in 1994, and it became a critical success, including a rare four stars from ''Rolling Stone'' magazine. "The Saddest Song I Ever Heard" is the title of a R&B single by For Real. Written by Diane Warren. "The Saddest Song I Ever Heard" spent eight weeks on the US singles chart. The song would be covered two years later by Australian girl group Cherry. Their version, released with the shortened title "Saddest Song", peaked at #46 in Australia. Young-Holt Unlimited (also known as Young-Holt Trio), were a U.S. soul and jazz instrumental musical ensemble from Chicago, Illinois, United States. Drummer Isaac "Redd" Holt and bassist Eldee Young, formerly members of Ramsey Lewis' jazz trio, formed a new outfit called the Young-Holt Trio with pianist Don Walker in 1966. They met with modest success, including the minor hit "Wack-Wack", which charted at number 40 on the ''Billboard'' Hot 100 and number 44 in Canada. In 1968, the group renamed itself Young-Holt Unlimited, and replaced Walker with Ken Chaney. Diane Eve Warren (born September 7, 1956) is an American songwriter. Kenneth Karlin or just Karlin (born September 18, 1966) is a Danish songwriter and producer who is best known for his work with Carsten Schack, better known as Soulshock, forming the Los Angeles-based producer duo Soulshock & Karlin. They have worked with artists including Whitney Houston, Backstreet Boys, 2Pac, Mary J. Blige, and JoJo. Holland–Dozier–Holland, often abbreviated as H-D-H, was a songwriting and production team consisting of Lamont Dozier and brothers Brian and Eddie Holland. The trio wrote, arranged and produced many songs that helped define the Motown sound in the 1960s.
