Fredrik (band)
Fredrik was a Swedish indie band from Malmö, Sweden. Its members were Fredrik Hultin, Ola Lindefelt, and Anna Moberg. History Fredrik started as a side project of The LK, an electronic music duo that consisted of Hultin and Lindefelt. Fredrik released three albums starting with their debut in 2008, ''Na Na Ni'', which received critical acclaim from ''Magnet Magazine'' and ''Stereogum''. Following the release of ''Na Na Ni'', Stereogum featured them as a "Band to Watch" and brought them to the United States for the first time. Their second album, ''Trilogi'', was released in March 2010, and was accompanied by a tour of Europe and the eastern United States, including a live performance on the NPR Tiny Desk Concerts series. Progressive Rock
Progressive rock (shortened as prog rock or simply prog) is a broad genre of rock music that primarily developed in the United Kingdom through the mid- to late 1960s, peaking in the early-to-mid-1970s. StoryCorps
StoryCorps is an American non-profit organization which aims to record, preserve, and share the stories of Americans from all backgrounds and beliefs. Its mission statement is "to help us believe in each other by illuminating the humanity and possibility in us all—one story at a time". StoryCorps grew out of Sound Portraits Productions as a project founded in 2003 by radio producer David Isay. Its headquarters are located in the Fort Greene neighborhood of Brooklyn, New York. Stop-motion (also known as stop frame animation) is an animated filmmaking and special effects technique in which objects are physically manipulated in small increments between individually photographed frames so that they will appear to exhibit independent motion or change when the series of frames is played back. Any kind of object can thus be animated, but puppets with movable joints (puppet animation) or clay figures (claymation) are most commonly used. Tiny Desk Concerts
''Tiny Desk Concerts'' is a video series of live concerts hosted by NPR Music at the desk of former ''All Songs Considered'' host Bob Boilen in Washington, D.C. The first ''Tiny Desk Concert'' came about in 2008 after Boilen and NPR Music editor Stephen Thompson (journalist), Stephen Thompson left South by Southwest frustrated that they couldn't hear the music over the crowd noise. Thompson joked that the musician, folk singer Laura Gibson, should just perform at Boilen's desk. A month later Boilen arranged for her to do just that, making an impromptu recording and posting it online. The name is taken from Boilen's 1970s psychedelic dance band called Tiny Desk Unit. The LK
The LK is an experimental indie band from Malmö, Sweden. LK is short for the Lovekevins, the band's name before the 2008 USA release of '' Vs. the Snow'', and shortened from their first band name, The Love of Kevin, Colour, Chaos and the Sound of K. The band is a duo of Lindefelt, a sound artist, and Fredrik, a songwriter. Both perform solo and also run a microlabel called POL. Experimental Music
Experimental music is a general label for any music or music genre that pushes existing boundaries and genre definitions. Experimental compositional practice is defined broadly by exploratory sensibilities radically opposed to, and questioning of, institutionalized compositional, performing, and aesthetic conventions in music. Alternative rock (also known as alternative music, alt-rock or simply alternative) is a category of rock music that evolved from the independent music underground of the 1970s.
