Frederik Ferdinand Helsted
Frederik Ferdinand Helsted (March 18, 1809 – December 11, 1875) was a Denmark, Danish painter and drawing master. Biography Helsted was born in Copenhagen, Denmark. He was the son of Johan Helsted and Ane Marie Salathee. From 1834 to 1837 he studied at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts. He conducted study trips to Düsseldorf (1841), Nice, Florence and Rome (1844–45). In 1845 he set up a drawing school in Copenhagen which he ran for 30 years. After 1849, he abandoned his painting career and concentrated on drawing lessons. In 1841, he married Anna Christiane Vilhelmine Olsen (1815-1889). He was the father of painter Axel Helsted (1847-1907). He was buried at the Holmens Cemetery in Copenhagen. Holmens Cemetery
Holmen Cemetery (Danish: Holmens Kirkegård) is the oldest cemetery still in use in Copenhagen, Denmark. It was first located next to the naval Church of Holmen in the city centre but relocated to its current site on Dag Hammarskjölds Allé in the Østerbro district in 1666. The cemetery originally served as a burial site for indigent sailors in royal service and their families, complementing the military Garnisons Cemetery, from 1711 located on a neighbouring site. History When the anchor forge at Bremerholm was converted into a naval church by Christian IV in 1619, a churchyard was laid out next to it. It remained in use until 1651 but was then, following an extension of the church between 1641 and 1649, relocated to a site outside the Bastioned Fortifications, next to the main road leading in and out of the Eastern City Gate. Axel Helsted
Axel Theophilus Helsted (11 April 1847 - 17 February 1907) was a Danish painter. Biography Helsted was born in Copenhagen, Denmark. He was the son of the painter Frederik Ferdinand Helsted. He studied at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts, completing his course of study in 1866. In 1869, he traveled to Paris. From 1874, he and his wife stayed in Italy. Helsted made a journey to the Netherlands and Belgium in 1890. In 1887 he became a member of the Royal Academy, in 1892 he received the title of professor. He exhibited at the Charlottenborg Spring Exhibition between 1865 and 1907 together with various exhibitions at Paris, Vienna and Munich.
