Frederick Hastings Rindge House
Built in 1904, The Frederick Hastings Rindge House is a historic house located in the West Adams neighborhood of Los Angeles, California. In 1986, it was listed on the National Register of Historic Places. History The Rindge House was built in 1904 for Frederick H. Rindge and wife Rhoda May Knight Rindge and designed by Frederick Roehrig and E.C. Shipley in a Renaissance Revival-Romanesque Revival Victorian style. 1986, the Rindge House was listed on the National Register of Historic Places based on architectural criteria. Adamson House
The Adamson House and its estate, known as Vaquero Hill in the 19th century, is a historic house built by Rhoda Adamson and gardens in Malibu, California, Malibu, California. The residence and estate is on the coast, within Malibu Lagoon State Beach park. It has been called the "Taj Mahal of Tile" due to its extensive use of decorative ceramic tiles created by Rufus Keeler of Malibu Potteries. The house was built in 1929 for Rhoda Rindge Adamson and Merritt Huntley Adamson, based on a Mediterranean Revival architecture, Mediterranean Revival design by Stiles O. The Hueneme, Malibu & Port Los Angeles Railway was a standard-gauge, in Malibu, California. It was founded by Frederick Hastings Rindge (1857–1905) and operated on his along the coast, which encompassed most of what is today Malibu. He struggled for years to keep trespassers off of his land, and feared that the Southern Pacific Company would use the power of eminent domain to build a railroad through his property. That threat animated Rindge to plan his own railroad to thwart the efforts of the Southern Pacific. It was part of his overall effort to keep outsiders off of his ranch, who he believed would spoil what he considered to be paradise. Malibu Potteries
Malibu Potteries was a ceramic tile manufacturer in Malibu, California. Malibu Potteries was founded by Rhoda May Knight Rindge in 1926. A fire devastated the company 30 September 1931, and the company closed in 1932. Tile designs included influences the styles of Moorish, Egyptian, Mayan and Saracen cultures. Many of the tile designs were geometric. The company was known for their tile murals consisting of tiles with peacocks and other birds. The company also produced decorated tiles for floors in the style of a laid-out Persian rug. May Rindge's daughter's house, the historic Adamson House, has many examples of the tile produced by Malibu Potteries. Rindge Dam
Rindge Dam is a dam on Malibu Creek in the Santa Monica Mountains of Southern California. Located in Malibu Creek State Park, it sits just northeast of Malibu Canyon Road, and is partially visible from the turnouts south of the tunnel. The dam, a major obstacle to river wildlife, is due to be removed with demolition work beginning in 2025 and finishing in 2035.
