Frederick Dudley Travers
Captain Frederick Dudley Travers (born 15 February 1897; date of death unknown) was an English World War I flying ace credited with nine aerial victories. His later life saw his continued service to his nation in both the Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve and in civil aviation. He pioneered air routes into Africa, the Middle East, and India. He also became proficient in piloting flying boats. He flew civilian aircraft into the war zones during World War II. By the end of his civil aviation career, he had flown over two million miles and logged 19,000 accident-free flying hours. Upon his retirement from the RAF, he had served for almost four decades. Fokker (; ) was a Dutch aircraft manufacturer that operated from 1912 to 1996. Flying Officer Leslie Hamilton , was a British pilot and First World War flying ace credited with six aerial victories. In 1927, he disappeared while attempting the first non-stop east–west flight across the Atlantic Ocean. His Fokker F.VIIa, named ''St. Raphael'', was last seen over the mid-Atlantic by oil tanker SS ''Josiah Macy''. World War I service Hamilton was commissioned into the Corps of Royal Engineers as a second lieutenant on 12 June 1916. He was promoted to lieutenant on 12 December 1917, and having transferred to the Royal Flying Corps to train as a pilot, was appointed a flying officer on 17 January 1918. Bogdanci ( ) is a small town in North Macedonia, close to the border with Greece. It is located at around , and is the seat of Bogdanci Municipality. Group Captain Acheson Gosford Goulding (16 May 1893 – 27 April 1951) was a Canadian World War I flying ace credited with 21 aerial victories. After infantry service, he transferred to aviation and served in Asia Minor and the Balkans. After winning the Military Cross for courage, he returned to civilian life. Captain Gerald Gordon Bell (11 June 1890 – 7 October 1970) was a Canadian First World War flying ace, officially credited with sixteen aerial victories while serving in the British Royal Flying Corps and Royal Air Force. World War I Bell was born in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada, and was working as a mechanical engineer on the outbreak of the war. He served in the Governor General's Foot Guards, before signing attestation papers for service overseas on 1 February 1915, and was assigned to the 38th Battalion, Canadian Expeditionary Force, with the rank of lieutenant. According to his service record his father was by then dead, so he gave his mother as his next of kin. The 38th Battalion remained in Canada until 14 August 1915, when it was transferred to Bermuda to serve as part of the garrison. Doiran Lake (, ''Dojransko Ezero''; , ''Límni Dhoïráni''), also spelled Dojran Lake is a lake with an area of shared between North Macedonia () and Greece (). To the west is the city of Nov Dojran (Нов Дојран), to the east the village of Mouries, to the north the mountain Belasica/Beles and to the south the Greek town of Doirani. The lake has a rounded shape, a maximum depth of and a north-to-south length of and is at its widest, making it the third largest lake partially in North Macedonia after Lake Ohrid and Lake Prespa. History The lake was on the southern line of the Macedonian front during World War I, and its southern shore became the site of the various battles between allied troops and Bulgarian troops in 1916, 1917 and 1918.
