Freddy Lombard
''The Adventures of Freddy Lombard'' is a comic book series created by Yves Chaland. Five albums were released, all during the 1980s, before Chaland's untimely death. They were originally written in French, though have since received publication into English. The stories feature the protagonist Freddy Lombard and his friends Dina and Sweep, as they desperately try to get money to pay their bills. This often leads them to their adventures. Les Humanoïdes Associés (or Humanoids) is a French- American publishing house specializing in comics and graphic novels, founded in December 1974 by comic artists Mœbius, Jean-Pierre Dionnet, Philippe Druillet, and financial director Bernard Farkas. Its initial goal was to publish the magazine '' Métal hurlant,'' which focused on science fiction. It later expanded to include works from other comic book genres. Considered revolutionary in the comic book form at the time, chiefly due to its focus on the science fiction genre, the work found in Humanoïdes inspired many generations of authors and filmmakers. Yves Chaland (; 3 April 1957 – 18 July 1990) was a French cartoonist. During the 1980s, together with Luc Cornillon, Serge Clerc and Floc'h, he launched the ''Atomic style'', a stylish remake of the Marcinelle School in Franco-Belgian comics. Biography Yves Chaland was born in Lyon on 3 April 1957 to Jean-Marie Chaland and Marie-Thérèse Chapolard. Chaland published his first strips in the fanzine ''Biblipop'' when he was 17. During his studies at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts, Saint-Etienne, he created his own fanzine, ''L'Unité de Valeur'', in 1976, with Luc Cornillon.
