Freddie Miller (boxer)
Freddie Miller (April 3, 1911 – May 8, 1962) was an American boxer from Cincinnati, Ohio, who won over 200 fights and held the NBA world featherweight championship from 1933 to 1936. He was named in ''Ring'' magazine's list of the 80 Best Fighters of the Last 80 Years. Early life and career Miller was born on April 3, 1911, in Cincinnati, Ohio. He would become known as a quick, and clever boxer with excellent ringcraft, and his southpaw stance would give him a difficult style to defend. In one of his earlier fights against a future contender, Miller faced Phil Zwick on November 28, 1936, beating him by a fourth-round knockout on January 26, 1931, in Wheeling, West Virginia. Zwick would contend for the world featherweight title in 1941. Miller fought Tommy Paul three times in 1931. In the first two fights, Miller beat Paul by decision in Cincinnati. Diosdado Posadas (December 25, 1906 – July 2, 1990), better known as Speedy Dado, was a Filipino boxer who contended for the world flyweight, bantamweight, and featherweight championships. Johnny King (8 January 1912 – 6 March 1963) was an English professional boxer who competed from 1926 to 1947. Predominantly a bantamweight, he was a two-time British bantamweight champion and a one-time British Empire (Commonwealth) bantamweight champion. John Callura (September 14, 1917Other sources report his year of birth 1914 or 1915. – November 4, 1993) was a Canadian featherweight boxer. He was born and died in Hamilton, Ontario. Callura won the national featherweight title in 1931 and was a member of the 1932 Summer Olympics team. In 1932 he was eliminated in the first round of the Olympic flyweight competition after losing his fight to the eventual bronze medalist Louis Salica. Enrique Chaffardet (December 5, 1907 – April 24, 1980) was a Venezuelan professional boxer during the Roaring Twenties who became the Venezuelan featherweight champion on August 17, 1930, after beating Sixto Escobar. Also known as '''Henry Chaff''' and '''El Indio de Irapa''' he was the first Venezuelan boxer to ever achieve international success and was eventually inducted into a Boxing Hall of Fame with an official record of 58–20–7. Sammy Angott (January 17, 1915 – October 22, 1980) was born Salvatore Engotti in a Pittsburgh area town in Pennsylvania. He reigned as the Undisputed Lightweight Champion from December 19, 1941 – November 14, 1942.
