Freddie Cowan
Freddie Cowan (born 6 August 1988) is an English musician and songwriter. He is the co-founder and former lead guitarist of the indie rock band The Vaccines. Early life Cowan was born in London, England, and attended Rugby School. He grew up in a musical family; his older brother, Tom Cowan (Furse), is a member of the British band the Horrors. This environment influenced his early interest in music. Career In 2010, Cowan co-founded The Vaccines with Justin Young, Árni Árnason, and Pete Robertson. He contributed to their first five albums. Cowan left the band in 2022, just before they began work on their new record, ''Pick-Up Full of Pink Carnations''. In 2012, Cowan collaborated with his brother Tom from the Horrors, expressing concerns about the decline of pop music and highlighting the enduring appeal of guitar-driven tracks. The Horrors
The Horrors are an English rock band formed in Southend-on-Sea in 2005, consisting of lead vocalist Faris Badwan, guitarist Joshua Hayward, keyboardist and synthesizer player Tom Furse, bassist Rhys Webb, and drummer and percussionist Joe Spurgeon. Their music has been classified as garage rock, garage punk, gothic rock, shoegaze and post-punk revival. ''Combat Sports'' is the fourth studio album by English indie rock band, The Vaccines. The album was released on 30 March 2018 through Columbia Records. It is the first album recorded with keyboardist Timothy Lanham and drummer Yoann Intonti, both of whom had originally joined the band as touring musicians during the ''English Graffiti'' album cycle, with Lanham added from the campaign's inception, while Intonti—who was still a member of Spector at the time—replaced the departed Pete Robertson in the last phase of the campaign. Both became involved in the making of ''Combat Sports'' at the midway point before being promoted to full members of the band''Q'', January 2017 with Lanham pictured wearing a T-shirt with the album title featured on the front cover, an idea inspired by the album's opening track, "Put It on a T-Shirt". ''English Graffiti'' is the third studio album by English rock band The Vaccines. It was produced by Dave Fridmann, with co-production from Cole M. Greif-Neill at Fridmann's New York studio. The album was released on 25 May 2015 through Columbia Records and charted at #2 upon release. The album marked the band's first release in two years, following the '' Melody Calling'' EP, and their first full studio album release in three, following '' Come of Age'' in 2012. Young stated that Fridmann was chosen due to both his track record in making "consistently fantastic records". It is the last album recorded with drummer Pete Robertson, who left the band after completing their 2016 U.S. tour. Promotion The Vaccines revealed the first single to be released from the album as "Handsome" on 19 January 2015.
