Frederick Smith, 1st Baron Colwyn
Frederick Henry Smith, 1st Baron Colwyn (24 January 1859 – 26 January 1946), known as Sir Frederick Smith, 1st Baronet, from 1912 to 1917, was a British manufacturer, investor and banking executive. He was an influential Liberal figure in Manchester politics for many years. Smith was a rubber and cotton factory owner, deputy chairman of Martins Bank (which 23 years after his death with 700 branches was acquired by Barclays Bank) and a director of several railway companies. In 1917 he served as High Sheriff of Caernarvonshire, Sheriff of Caernarvonshire. He was created a Baronet, of Colwyn Bay in the County of Denbigh, in 1912. In the 1917 Birthday Honours he was raised to the peerage as Baron Colwyn, of Colwyn Bay in the County of Denbigh. In 1924, he was admitted to the Privy Council of the United Kingdom, Privy Council. Frederic Jacobs Smith
Carrie Minetta Jacobs-Bond (August 11, 1862 – December 28, 1946) was an American singer, pianist, and songwriter who composed some 175 pieces of popular music from the 1890s through the early 1940s. She is perhaps best remembered for writing the parlor song "I Love You Truly", becoming the first woman to sell one million copies of a song. The song first appeared in her 1901 collection ''Seven Songs as Unpretentious as the Wild Rose'', along with "Just Awearyin' for You", which was also widely recorded. Frederick Plympton Smith
Frederick P. Smith (19151985) was an American lawyer, banker, and politician. He was born in Vermont to Levi P. Smith and Julia Pease Smith and attended school in Burlington, Vermont. After graduation from Princeton University in 1937 he received a law degree from Harvard Law School. He served in the United States Navy during World War II. From 1959 to 1976 Smith was President of the Burlington Savings Bank, a position also held by his father and grandfather. He ws Chairman of the bank's board from 1976 until 1985. He was President of the Vermont Bankers Association and the National Association of Mutual Savings Banks, as well as a member of the Federal Savings and Loan Advisory Council. Frederick Cleveland Smith (July 29, 1884 – July 16, 1956) was an American physician and politician who served six terms as a Republican member of the U.S. House of Representatives from Ohio from 1939 to 1951. Early life and career Frederick C. Smith was born in Shanesville, Ohio. He pursued higher education in osteopathic medicine in Kirksville, Missouri, and practiced there for several years. He then traveled overseas to continue his study of medicine in Frankfurt, Germany, and in Vienna, Austria. In 1917, Smith was licensed to practice medicine and surgery in the State of Ohio and opened his practice in Marion, Ohio. He also served as mayor in Marion, Ohio from January 1936 until January 1, 1939, when he resigned. Smith founded the Frederick C. Frederick Chatfield Smith
Frederic Chatfield Smith (11 June 1823 – 20 April 1905) was head of Smith's Bank in Nottingham and a British Conservative Party politician. Smith was the son of Samuel George Smith (1789-1863), of Goldings, Hertfordshire and his wife Eugenia Chatfield (1803-1838). Smith entered the House of Commons as Member of Parliament (MP) for Nottinghamshire North when he was elected unopposed at the 1868 general election. He was re-elected unopposed in 1874, and stood down at the 1880. Frederic Chatfield Smith bought "Bramcote Hall" in Bramcote (Nottinghamshire) from Mr. Wilmot as home for his family and enlarged it considerably. Frederick Smith (March 1, 1773 – October 6, 1830) was a Pennsylvania lawyer. He was state Attorney General (1823–8) and a justice of the state's Supreme Court (1828–30). Biography and career Smith was born in the Germantown area of Philadelphia. After graduating in 1792 from the University of Pennsylvania, he worked and studied in the office of Jared Ingersoll, a signer of the U. S. Constitution who was then the newly appointed state Attorney General. In 1794, Smith moved to Reading, and practiced law in Berks, Lehigh, Northampton, and Schuylkill counties. In 1809 he was part of the team defending, unsuccessfully, the controversial Susanna Cox. In 1823, Governor Shulze offered Smith the position of Secretary of the Commonwealth, which he declined, but then offered Smith the position of state Attorney General, which he accepted.
