Fraser Valley Cascades
The UFV Cascades are the athletic teams that represent the University of the Fraser Valley in Abbotsford, British Columbia and currently compete in the Canada West conference of U Sports. The Cascades varsity teams include basketball, golf, soccer, and volleyball; and clubs for baseball, and rowing. History The Cascades had exclusively been a member of the PacWest conference of the Canadian Collegiate Athletic Association until 2006 when they were granted probationary membership into the Canada West conference of the then-named Canadian Interuniversity Sport (CIS). Basketball and soccer began competing in Canada West in the 2006-07 season. The Cascades became full members of Canada West in 2010. The varsity wrestling program was formed in 2013 and began competing in 2014. The University of the Fraser Valley (UFV), formerly known as University College of the Fraser Valley and Fraser Valley College, is a public university with campuses in Abbotsford, British Columbia, Abbotsford, Chilliwack, Mission, British Columbia, Mission and Hope, British Columbia, Hope, British Columbia, Canada. Founded in 1974 as Fraser Valley College, it was a response to the need for expanded vocational training in the communities of the Fraser Valley. Stacie Anaka
Stacie Anaka is a Canadian freestyle wrestler from Coquitlam, British Columbia. She competes in the 67 kg division. Anaka also serves as an assistant coach for women's wrestling at Simon Fraser University. In 2007, she received the Tom Longboat Award for her outstanding contributions to sports by the Aboriginal Sport Circle. Early life Throughout her high school career at Reynolds Secondary school, she also participated in wrestling. Anaka attended Simon Fraser University on a $20,000 wrestling scholarship. Ana Paula Godinez Gonzalez (born November 26, 1999) is a Canadian freestyle wrestler. She is a four-time medallist, including three gold medals, at the Pan American Wrestling Championships. She won the silver medal in the women's 62kg event at the 2022 Commonwealth Games held in Birmingham, England. Karla Lorena Godinez Gonzalez is a Canadian freestyle wrestler. She won one of the bronze medals in the 2022 World Wrestling Championships – Women's freestyle 55 kg, 55kg event at the 2022 World Wrestling Championships held in Belgrade, Belgrade, Serbia. She won the gold medal in her event at the 2022 Pan American Wrestling Championships held in Acapulco, Mexico. In July 2022, she won silver at the Grand Prix of Spain. The Alberta Golden Bears and Pandas are the sports teams that represent the University of Alberta in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. Alberta athletics teams have won a total of 101 national championships, including 84 in U Sports sanctioned sports, making it one of the most successful programs in the country. Arjan Singh Bhullar (born May 13, 1986) is a Canadian mixed martial artist currently competing in the heavyweight division of ONE Championship, where he is the former ONE Heavyweight World Champion. The U Sports Women's Basketball Championship, branded as the Women's Basketball Final 8, is a Canadian university basketball tournament conducted by U Sports, and determines the women's national champion. The Vancouver Bandits are a Canadian professional basketball team based in Langley, British Columbia, that competes in the Canadian Elite Basketball League (CEBL). The Bandits play home games at Langley Events Centre, located in the Fraser Valley.
