Fraser Park
Fraser Park is Lower Hutt's largest recreational sportsground, at 27 hectares it is the biggest sporting ground in the lower North Island. It is home to the Ricoh Sports Centre, a multi-use venue, as well as sports like rugby, rugby league, football, touch football, cricket, kilikiti (Samoan cricket) and softball. History Fraser Park Sportsville was launched in September 2009. The Fraser Park Sportsville founding clubs signed the Sportsville constitution in April 2010. The first stage of construction in 2015 saw three new softball diamonds, an artificial football turf and floodlights added to the park. Stage two saw the construction of the building to hold the clubs as well as six squash courts, indoor training facilities, eight changing rooms, a cafe and two bars. Lower Hutt () is a list of cities in New Zealand, city in the Wellington Region of New Zealand. Administered by the Hutt City Council, it is one of the four cities that constitute the Wellington#Wellington metropolitan area, Wellington metropolitan area. It is New Zealand's List of cities in New Zealand, sixth most populous city, with a population of . The total area administered by the council is around the lower half of the Hutt Valley and along the eastern shores of Wellington Harbour, of which is urban. Ray Wallace (mayor)
William Raymond Wallace (born 1961) is a New Zealand politician. He served as mayor of Lower Hutt from 2010 to 2019. Biography Early life Wallace was born in Kirkcaldy, Scotland, in 1961. He received his education at Te Aro Primary, St Mark's Church School and Wellington College. He has worked in real estate, health care, and the security industry. Wallace is married and lives in Wainuiomata. Political career Wallace stood for the National Party in the seat of Pencarrow (which covered much of Lower Hutt) at the 1990 general election. He lost to Labour's Sonja Davies. Wallace was first elected to Hutt City Council in the Wainuiomata ward in a 1995 by-election, he served as deputy mayor from 2001 to 2004. Wallace first challenged incumbent David Ogden for the mayoralty in 2007 and came a close second in the three-person race.
