François Pillet
François Pillet (born 13 May 1950) is a French lawyer and politician who has served as a member of the Constitutional Council (France), Constitutional Council since 2019. Pillet was previously senator for the department of Cher (department), Cher from 2007 to 2019. He is a member of The Republicans (France), The Republicans. Early life and professional career Pillet was born on 13 May 1950 in Bourges, France and worked as a lawyer before entering politics. He served as the president of the bar association of Bourges from 1996 to 1997, in which position he wrote a book on taxation procedures titled the ''Practical Guide to Tax Litigation Procedures'' (''Guide pratique de la procédure dans le contentieux fiscal''). The Constitutional Council (, ) is the highest constitutional authority in France. It was established by the Constitution of France, Constitution of the Fifth Republic on 4 October 1958 to ensure that constitutional principles and rules are upheld. It is housed in the Palais-Royal in Paris. Serge Vinçon (17 June 1949 – 16 December 2007), was a French politician of the Union for a Popular Movement, UMP party. Career Born in Bourges, Cher (department), Cher, he was a college professor before a politician. He was elected senator of Cher (department), Cher on 24 September 1989 and re-elected on 27 September 1998. he was also during this time a substitute for France in the European Parliament, from 1993 to 1998. He was chairman of the Committee on Defense and Foreign Affairs from 2004 until his death and also held the position of mayor of Saint-Amand-Montrond from 1983 until his death. The Republicans held a presidential primary election, officially called the open primary of the right and centre (), to select a candidate for the 2017 presidential election. It took place on 20 November 2016, with a runoff on 27 November since no candidate obtained at least 50% of the vote in the first round. François Charles Amand Fillon (; born 4 March 1954) is a French retired politician who served as Prime Minister of France from 2007 to 2012 under President Nicolas Sarkozy. He was the nominee of The Republicans (previously known as the Union for a Popular Movement), the country's largest centre-right political party, for the 2017 presidential election in which he ranked third in the first round of voting.
