François Houtart
François Houtart (7 March 1925 in Brussels – 6 June 2017 in Quito) was a Belgium, Belgian marxist sociologist and Catholic priest. Education Houtart studied philosophy and theology at the seminary of Mechelen (Belgium) and became a priest in 1949. He earned a master's degree in political and social sciences at the Catholic University of Leuven (Belgium). He earned a degree at the International Superior Institute of Urbanism (Brussels, Belgium). He earned a PhD in sociology from the Université catholique de Louvain, Catholic University of Louvain and served as professor there from 1958 till 1990. His doctoral thesis was based on the sociology of Buddhism in Sri Lanka. Author and activist Houtart was an author and co-author of numerous publications on socio-religious matters. He served as the chief editor of the International Journal of Sociology of Religion, "''Social Compass''" for nearly forty years (1960–1999). Abdul Sattar Edhi (; 28 February 1928 – 8 July 2016) was a Pakistani Humanitarianism, humanitarian, Philanthropy, philanthropist and Asceticism, ascetic who founded the Edhi Foundation, which runs the world's largest ambulance network, along with homeless shelters, animal shelters, Psychiatric rehabilitation, rehabilitation centres, and orphanages across Pakistan. Edhi's charitable activities expanded greatly in 1957 when 1957–1958 influenza pandemic, an Asian flu epidemic originating in China swept through Pakistan and the rest of the world. Donations allowed him to buy his first ambulance the same year. He later expanded his charity network with the help of his wife Bilquis Edhi. ''Le Soir'' (, ) is a French-language Belgian daily newspaper. Founded in 1887 by Émile Rossel, it was intended as a politically independent source of news. Together with '' La Libre Belgique'', it is one of the most popular Francophone newspapers in both Brussels and Wallonia, and since 2005 has been published in Berliner format. It is owned by Rossel & Cie, which also owns several Belgian news outlets, as well as the French paper '' La Voix du Nord''. History and profile ''Le Soir'' was founded as a free advertising newspaper in 1887. Later it became a paying paper.
